Position Summary:
This position, as a senior administrative branch staff member in an Association actively engaged in national Y initiatives, is responsible for day-to-day general administration of the Programs Department, including staff supervision, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development and quality control, committee development, community relations, collaborations, long-range planning and facility maintenance. The Program Director provides direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with policies, procedures and standards established by the Board. This role is responsible for running Summer Day Camp, Parent\'s Night Out, Family Nights, The Kids Zone, The Zone and Family Special Events.
Core and Strategic Functions:
- High Quality Programs, Services and Facilities
- Direct and administer total operation of the Youth, Teen and Family Program Departments, including interpretation and execution of established policies, development of procedures, staffing, evaluation of program effectiveness, and operational oversight.
- Plan and conduct a wide variety of programs and activities that maximize facilities, support the YMCA mission, and enhance membership.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or violate the code of conduct.
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment by keeping supplies organized, maintaining a clean facility, and caring for equipment.
- Promote and monitor program growth, taking a leadership role in membership cultivation and program retention.
- Develop and implement annual program growth and retention goals, with monthly and weekly action plans.
- Staff and Volunteer Management
- Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers using Leadership Competency Model resources to create a culture of cause-driven leaders.
- Lead and/or participate in branch committees.
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to keep staff informed.
- Support branch Y Community Champions efforts.
- Finance
- Prepare annual department budgets for approval by the Executive Director.
- Recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary expense controls and revenue production.
- Community Development
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Promote and communicate the YMCA objectives and programs through public channels.
- Actively participate in community organizations.
- Financial Development
- Incorporate storytelling to advance the mission and cause.
- Participate in Annual Campaign efforts.
- Identify and recruit Annual Campaign volunteers.
- Lead and/or participate in branch special events for fundraising or mission advancement.

- Serve as a member of branch management and support branch and association objectives.

Position Qualifications:

Education: Four-year college degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Two years in a related field; two years in management or supervision. Certifications and screenings: Must pass Level II Background Screening and meet YMCA of the Suncoast driving criteria. CPR/First Aid required within 90 days of employment. Physical notes: May be required to sit or stand for extended periods and lift/carry up to 30 lbs. Must be able to multi-task and manage relationships with strong communication, written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills.
