Field CTO (North America)

WSO2, WorkFromHome

Save Job

WSO2 is looking for a visionary Field CTO to join our North America Sales Engineering team. As a company at the forefront of API Management, Integration, and Identity & Access Management (IAM), WSO2 provides the foundational "digital freedom" for enterprises to innovate without vendor lock-in.

The Field CTO is a high-impact, senior-level technology sales professional who acts as the "voice of the technology" in the field. You will serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives at our most strategic accounts, providing thought leadership and architectural guidance that aligns WSO2’s open-source and SaaS solutions with our customers' long-term business goals. This is a hybrid role that demands the technical depth of an architect and the influential communication of a senior sales executive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evangelism & Thought Leadership: Represent WSO2 at major industry conferences, executive roundtables, and in the media. Author white papers, blogs, and reference architectures that define the future of digital transformation and decentralized integration.
  • Strategic Sales Support: Partner with the North American sales team to lead "top-down" technical engagements. You will own the technical relationship with CXOs, helping them understand how WSO2 fits into their broader enterprise ecosystem.
  • Architectural Advisory: Provide high-level architectural oversight for strategic pre-sales opportunities and critical post-sales implementations. Ensure that customer deployments are scalable, secure, and follow industry best practices.
  • Market Intelligence & Feedback Loop: Act as a bridge between the North American market and WSO2 Product Management. Translate customer challenges and market trends into actionable product requirements to influence the roadmap of our internal developer platforms and SaaS offerings.
  • Post-Sales Strategic Alignment: For key accounts, continue to provide periodic executive-level reviews to ensure the realized value of the WSO2 platform and identify expansion opportunities based on the customer’s evolving digital roadmap.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor to the broader Sales Engineering team, elevating their ability to communicate business value alongside technical features.

Qualifications, Skills and Relevant Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in technical sales, enterprise architecture, or professional services, with at least 3 years in a leadership or "Field CTO" equivalent role.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, HL7v2, X12, CCDA) and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CMS Interoperability Rules, ONC 21st Century Cures Act)
  • Proven track record of selling to and advising Fortune 500 companies within the North American market.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent business experience is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional ability to distill complex technical concepts into business outcomes for CEOs, CTOs, and CISOs.
  • Strong understanding of the open-source ecosystem, cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, Docker), and SaaS delivery models.
  • Ability to see beyond a single transaction to build a multi-year partnership with a customer.
  • Ability to pivot between a deep-dive technical discussion with architects and a value-based business discussion with a Payer’s Chief Medical Officer or CFO.
  • Exceptional public speaking, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel across North America (approximately 30-40%) to engage with customers and attend industry events.

In Addition to a Competitive Compensation Package, WSO2 Offers:

  • A work culture and environment where we value both hard work AND flexibility
  • Ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Education reimbursement for professional qualifications and courses
  • A generous vacation/leave plan that fits your needs
  • Health insurance for you and your family
  • 401K matching
