
Retail Sales Associate
The Retail Sales Associate will be hired to work during peak seasons, such as Fall and Spring meet. If available, they will get the opportunity to work during Horse Sales and Breeders Cup events. In addition to the Keeneland Shop, there are three additional retail locations set up outside on the property. They will be responsible for working on one or several of the retail sites. To perform this job successfully, Sales Associates need to demonstrate superior customer service in a professional and courteous manner. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Understanding and adhering to the principles of the Keeneland PROMISE mission statement. Create a welcoming Keeneland experience for guests by delivering exceptional customer service and connecting with patrons providing product knowledge in a confident manner. Complete tasks as directed by Retail Management Team for business needs. Ability to utilize and point of sales system and handle cash & credit transactions correctly. For the outside locations one will be responsible for packing and unpacking products in an orderly manner. Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with all team members and provide support to the team through sharing knowledge. During race meets one is expected to work the entire race meet, if necessary. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Available to work on a flexible schedule based upon business needs for race meets. Must be able to stand for at least 8 hours. Ability to maneuver around sales floor and stockroom. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to receive feedback and act when appropriate. Having a team work mentality High school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, purchase orders and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to speak Spanish or French is a plus. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to communicate with customers in a professional and courteous manner. The employee frequently is required to climb ladders to move merchandise weight on the average of 30-35 pounds onto shelves. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
