The main function of the Counselor-In-Training is to assist Camp Director, Camp Leadership and Counselors with certain summer camp duties during summer camp. This is a volunteer, un-paid position. CIT's earn Service Hours that may be applied to required service hours for school, church, Scouts, clubs and organizations. CIT's who perform well are considered for rehire in a paid counselor position the following year.\nPosition Availability: End of May through the first week of August.\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities:\nEngage campers in all scheduled activities.\nFollow a daily schedule as directed by a supervisor or Camp Director.\nAssist with breakfast, lunch and snacks.\nHelp supervise campers on all field trips.\nHelp take a head count and call roll before each departure from camp and each departure from field trips.\nHelp assist the counselors with activities as directed.\nEngage campers in scheduled activities; motivate and encourage participation.\nHelp organize group for on-campus events.\nReport all camper illness or injuries and treat with first aid as needed.\nAssist in the dismissal of campers.\nEscort campers to aftercare, bus area, or carpool according to dismissal procedures.\nAssist with camp cleaning as directed by group leader or Camp Director.\nOther Duties and Responsibilities:\nRequired to follow all rules, regulations and procedures listed in the Counselor Handbook.\nRequired to attend all assigned orientations, trainings, and set-ups prior to the beginning of camp.\nBe prepared to work in different areas of camp, working with a group, swimming lessons, kitchen, clean-up, arts/crafts, assisting in the office.\nUnderstand that you will be evaluated every week during camp.\nPhysical Demands & Working Conditions: Must be physically and mentally able to meet the challenges of navigating and working in destination-based facilities.\nReporting and Relationships: The Counselor-In-Training of a Kidcam Camp reports to their direct Supervisor, and the Director.\nExtent of Public Contact:\nGreet parents in the morning.\nOpen car doors during carpool.\nMaintain a professional attitude when attending off-and on-campus field trips.\nMaintain a positive rapport with campers, parents, camp Director, and all other camp location personnel.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nExperience working with children or groups of children.\nMust be willing to work well in a team environment.\nMust be willing to be fully engaged with campers in various activities.\nKey Competencies:\nAge: 14\nA problem solver!
