YMCA Camp Carter is a beautiful 360-acre summer camp located right in the heart of Fort Worth, TX. At camp, we offer 11 weeks of care that runs from Tuesday, May 26th through Friday, August 7th with an exciting variety of camp options to please every kind of camper at every age! Our traditional multi-activity camp provides options like STEM, arts, horseback riding, swimming, boating, fishing, and more! We are seeking an Assistant Camp Director to help lead our summer day camp program. This seasonal leadership role is perfect for someone passionate about youth development, team building, and creating unforgettable camp experiences. The Assistant Camp Director works closely with the Program Director and leadership team to ensure smooth daily operations, staff support, and camper safety. Essential Functions
The Assistant Camp Director plays a key role in delivering a safe, fun, and impactful summer experience. Responsibilities include: Leadership & Supervision: Support and mentor camp counselors and activity leaders; assist with scheduling, staff check-ins, and performance feedback. Program Oversight: Help plan and execute engaging camp activities that align with YMCA values and camper development goals. Camper Experience: Ensure campers feel welcomed, included, and supported; assist with behavior management and conflict resolution. Safety & Compliance: Maintain proper ratios, oversee swim safety, monitor health and wellness, and respond to emergencies as needed. Culture & Spirit: Model camp enthusiasm by participating in traditions, leading songs, and fostering a positive, energetic environment. Communication: Serve as a point of contact for staff and families by either opening or closing camp daily; provide updates and address concerns professionally. Qualifications
Minimum age: 21+ Previous experience in camp leadership, youth programming, or team supervision preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work in an active outdoor environment and maintain high energy throughout the day. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Schedule
Pre-Camp Training: Weeks of May 11 & 18 Citywide Training: May 16 (9 AM
5 PM) Camp Season: May 26
August 7 (must be available for at least 10 of 11 weeks) Typical hours: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM3:30 PM or 10:00 AM7:00 PM Benefits
