Retail Sales Associate

The International Spy Museum is seeking a Retail Sales Associate to support our fun, fast-paced museum gift shop, which sells a unique assortment of spy apparel, books, gadgets, toys and souvenirs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public, thrives in a busy setting, and has a passion for customer service. Retail Sales Associates engage with guests of all ages and play a key role in creating a memorable shopping experience on the sales floor and at the register. Genuinely passionate about customer service and creating memorable guest experiences Energetic and outgoing, bringing a fun and friendly attitude Self-starter who takes initiative and can stay productive without constant direction Highly flexible and comfortable adapting to changing priorities in a busy retail environment Team-oriented and willing to support coworkers and leadership Comfortable standing and moving throughout the entirety of a shift Ability to represent the museum in a positive and professional manner Greet and acknowledge all guests entering the store, always providing service excellence. Actively engage guests in product-oriented conversations, answer questions, and make product recommendations to support sales goals. Operate the point-of-sale and accurately process purchases at the register, following all cash handling procedures. Support replenishment efforts by stocking and retrieving merchandise from the stockroom to the sales floor. Maintain the appearance of the sales floor through stocking, straightening, and ensuring accurate signage. Routinely clean the sales floor, including counters and fixtures. Assist with visual merchandising and displays as directed. Participate in loss prevention efforts and alert leadership to low inventory levels or discrepancies. Observe scheduled shifts, maintain punctuality and follow all attendance and appearance policies. Assist with annual physical inventory. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. High School degree required. 1 year of retail, hospitality, or customer-facing experience. Proven ability to operate a cash register and count back change. This is a seasonal, hourly position. We hire for our peak Spring Break and Summer seasons. At the end of the Summer, if there is mutual interest, there may be an opportunity to extend employment beyond August. This role requires the ability to stand for the entirety of a shift in a fast-paced retail environment. This role requires a moderate amount of bending and the ability to handle and lift stock up to 25 pounds is required.
