
Role Summary
Leads the Access Marketing group within the US Market Access (USMA) organization to support Pfizer’s U.S. Pharmaceutics business and drive access for Pfizer’s products. Develops and executes market access strategies, builds payer partnerships, and coordinates with USMA functional teams, Global Access and Value, Marketing, External Affairs, Legal, Medical Affairs, Policy, Digital and Finance to align brand access plans with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Leads leaders to motivate and inspire a cross functional, multi-disciplinary team of approximately 40 colleagues to deliver high levels of performance.
- Leverages understanding of the U.S. Healthcare System to develop, implement and execute innovative strategies that create, maintain and expand market access and drive differentiation and performance of Pfizer’s products.
- Ensures development of strong access operating plans and strategies aligned with Brand goals; accountable for helping to develop, align and attain OPPLAN access and GTN targets for priority products.
- Builds and maintains productive, collaborative relationships with key senior level stakeholders, including Division Presidents and the Executive Leadership Team.
- Works closely with all USMA functional teams to ensure effective cascade of strategies, messages, tactics and training to maximize customer engagement on the value of Pfizer brands, ensuring clear strategic guidance and timely collaboration.
- Ensures development and delivery of holistic access plans, resources and tactics with large health care decision-maker customers; drives innovative strategies and tactics to differentiate Pfizer and Pfizer products.
- Develops clear and compelling value narratives, based on strong evidence, for products at all lifecycle stages from pipeline to loss of patent exclusivity.
- Assesses the market and landscape evolution, including Federal Policy changes, and leads the Annual US Healthcare Access Landscape Assessment as the foundation to Brand Access Plans.
- Ensures early engagement on key assets, including BD, to align product strategy with access landscape expectations and future performance.
- Builds, implements and continuously improves best-in-class access strategies, resources, tactics, practices and programs.
- Builds/enhances US Market Access Marketing capabilities and innovation to reflect evolving market and healthcare landscape; integrates with the Chief Marketing Officer.
- Champions change management within USMA to maintain industry-leading capabilities.
- Ensures processes for strong compliant governance, efficient and high-quality decision making.
- Anticipates and monitors healthcare policy changes and develops strategies that improve patient access.
- Ensures tight alignment and execution between Global and US multi-functional teams; drives opportunities/challenges to USMA stakeholders and delivers meaningful impact back to the business; directs cross-functional teams to align objectives and improve execution/evolution of access strategies and tactics.
- Identifies opportunities to improve team processes and controls; ensures compliant, effective and efficient decision making within governance processes; identifies areas for continuous improvement and simplification.
- Leads, develops and holds managers accountable to create an inclusive, engaged and compliant culture that drives Pfizer values, including performance and growth discussions, succession planning, inclusivity priorities and performance management.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 15 years of experience with bachelor’s degree; 13 years with Masters; 10 years with PhD or JD
- Previous recent team leadership / leading leaders experience
- Strong consultative skills and emotional intelligence
- Experience in the Healthcare sector including experience and demonstrated success within a Marketing Leadership function with both Brand and Access marketing experience
- Acts decisively and with urgency; removes barriers that hinder team productivity
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to understand and respond to multiple internal and external customers; build strategic partnerships internally and externally
- Track record of applying understanding of US healthcare and policy environment to identify trends and proactively translate insights into strategies and tactics
