Job Summary
The Director, Assurance Architecture & Digital Innovation serves as the principal architect for platform technologies while partnering with leadership to build and guide the technical teams that deliver technology solutions for the BDO assurance practice and its clients. The role ensures alignment between technology capabilities, security, risk mitigation, compliance, adherence to firm policies, and assurance service delivery objectives. Job Duties
Assurance Technology Business Strategy Collaborates with Digital Transformation & Innovation (DT&I) leadership to define and execute on assurance technology business strategy Oversees architecture, engineering, and development of DT&I product portfolio supporting assurance services Collaborates with the product management team to develop and execute a strategic technology roadmap in alignment with company goals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions Defines and maintains the standards, processes, and procedures necessary to maintain product quality and deliver expected business capabilities and value while adhering to firm policies Technical Team Leadership Partners with leadership to design, build, and guide technology teams with professionals who can excel in a cross-disciplinary environment, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and accountability Drives the further growth and professional development of team members Collaborates on resource planning and staffing strategies to deliver on DT&I products Collaborates with BDO National IT around governance, infrastructure, and security Collaborates with BDO Global and BDO international member firms in the creation, maintenance, and deployment of global solutions Manages vendor and partner relationships to support development efforts Architecture and Management of Product Portfolio Serves as the principal architect for platform-level solutions, designing scalable, maintainable, and secure architectures for complex systems as well as other products within the portfolio, including both vendor and internally developed Oversees the development of product portfolios, ensuring projects adhere to established governance and operating standards and are delivered on time, within budget, meet quality standards, requirements/business needs, and expected values Escalates critical matters timely, transparently and professionally and in-line with leadership consensus Applies customer experience and problem-solving skills to clarify requirements and validate initiatives Stays abreast of emerging technology trends and evaluates their applicability to assurance service delivery Ensures architectural decisions align with firm policies and security standards Ensures compliance with software development and enterprise best practices and industry standards, particularly in security and data protection Ensures team's and products' compliance with all applicable risk and security standards, firm policies, and regulatory requirements Ensures all DT&I products remain compliant with applicable service level agreements (SLAs) Partners with risk and compliance stakeholders to maintain alignment between technology solutions and firm governance requirements including quality control standards and regulatory standards Performs other duties as assigned Willingly accepts share of less desirable assignments Supervisory Responsibilities: Acts as a direct supervisor to engineering and development team members, as assigned Acts as a career advisor and mentor to senior engineering and development team members as assigned Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education: Bachelor's degree with a focus in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience, required Experience: Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the technology field, required Five (5) or more years of experience in a leadership role, managing development teams, required Experience delivering multinational technology solutions, preferred Experience interacting with client business leaders and IT personnel, preferred Experience working with a multinational remote team, preferred Experience developing and launching successful enterprise and/or SAAS products, preferably in the accounting industry, preferred Deep understanding of software architecture and engineering principles and patterns (e.g., microservices, serverless), preferred Experience with agile and waterfall development methodologies and managing projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferred License/Certifications: N/A Technology: Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform and related services (Azure DevOps, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Data Factory, SQL Server), required Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and practices, required Experience with project management tools and methodologies (Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Agile, Waterfall), required Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, source control (Git), and DevOps practices, preferred Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools (Power BI), preferred Experience with AI and machine learning technologies (Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, generative AI platforms), preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong expertise in enterprise architecture, system integrations, and designing scalable technology solutions Proven ability to work with business analysts to translate business requirements into practical, maintainable technical architectures Deep knowledge of data architecture, data platforms, and analytics solutions Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on requirements gather and practical, real-world implementation Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership Experience preparing and presenting architectural recommendations to governance bodies (e.g., Architecture Review Boards) Ability to work effectively across technical teams and business stakeholders in complex and high energy enterprise environments Strong knowledge of security best practices, identity management, and compliance considerations in enterprise environments Experience supporting post-merger integration efforts including system consolidation and technology alignment Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization Ability to
