Genesis Consulting is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Finance Solution Consultant with a passion for growth and business transformation. The Finance Solution Consultant will serve as a client-facing advisor supporting ERP Modernization initiatives by assessing and optimizing Finance Business Processes. This role will lead fit-gap analysis, evaluate complex application landscapes, and deliver actionable recommendations that align client operations with modern ERP capabilities, industry best practices, and organizational change objectives without direct system configuration responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted, client-facing advisor supporting ERP modernization initiatives across Finance, Budget, Procurement, Inventory, and Forecasting functions.

Lead finance-focused business process fit-gap analyses to evaluate alignment between current-state workflows and modern ERP solution capabilities, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and usability.

Facilitate workshops with project teams and business stakeholders to document complex current-state processes across core ERP modules, third-party applications, and culturally embedded “shadow IT” systems.

Develop actionable recommendations to address functional gaps through business process changes, governance improvements, or tooling alternatives rather than system customization.

Advise clients on managing unique or non-standard finance processes when solution functionality could not fully address requirements, including documenting impacts, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Support future-state finance process design aligned to ERP modernization vision, business drivers, and guiding principles, ensuring consistency with industry standards and best practices.

Identify opportunities for agile, iterative deployment approaches to enable early wins and incremental adoption across finance and budgeting functions.

Document future risks, issues, and potential long-term costs associated with retaining legacy processes or deferring recommended changes, enabling informed executive decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

Minimum of 5+ years of client-facing consulting experience supporting finance transformation, ERP, or enterprise modernization initiatives, preferably in a K-12 or government setting.

Demonstrated experience performing finance-focused business process analysis and fit-gap assessments across budgeting, procurement, inventory, forecasting, and financial operations.

Proven ability to develop strategic recommendations that address functional gaps through process optimization, governance improvements, or tooling alternatives rather than system configuration.

Experience working within complex application environments that include core ERP modules, third-party systems, and legacy or “shadow IT” solutions.

Strong facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, including leading workshops and producing executive-ready analysis and recommendations.

Ability to assess and clearly communicate risks, impacts, and long-term costs associated with maintaining legacy finance processes or deferring recommended changes.

Experience supporting ERP modernization efforts aligned to defined business drivers, guiding principles, and industry best practices.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

Required Certifications

PeopleSoft, Oracle, or Workday Certifications preferred.
