Play a key role in creating construction and fabrication drawings using cutting-edge Autodesk Fabrication + Revit software for diverse and challenging commercial and industrial projects
Provides on-site support for field personnel, when needed, and interfaces with other team leaders, the group manager, process managers, project managers, the shop fabrication managers and field supervisors
Collaborate with project teams to review and coordinate engineering, architectural, and structural documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness for successful project outcomes
Reviews equipment submittal documents for accuracy and completeness
Coordinates draft construction drawings with other trades to ensure routings and clearances are understood and no obstructions exist
Performs site surveys and field measurement work as needed to support the conceptual and design drawing efforts
Makes final checks and reviews trade drawings prior to fabrication release
Provides completed and complex construction drawings to the shop for parts manufacturing and to job site management to use in the construction and installation of material and equipment
Reviews contractual documents and construction drawings for apparent conflicts with architectural and structural documents and ensures compliance with local code requirements
Identifies each of the issues that surface during the review, and brings it to the attention of project management for clarification and resolution through the Request For Information (RFI) process
Manages document control during the detailing process
High School Diploma or GED is required
Associate’s Degree in Drafting, Design Technology or related field is preferred
2-5 years of proven experience as a VDC Designer
Demonstrated proficiency in design software such as Autodesk Fabrication and/or Revit is essential
Working knowledge of drawing production and standard construction techniques and principles
