Overview

The Grant Writer at NOW Connection is responsible for researching, writing, and managing grant proposals to secure funding that supports the organization's mission of promoting healthy communities through food education, garden-based learning, environmental sustainability, and health equity initiatives. This role involves identifying potential funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and maintaining relationships with funders. The Grant Writer will collaborate closely with financial staff and the leadership team to ensure successful grant submissions and compliance with reporting requirements. This position plays a critical role in advancing NOW Connection's strategic goals and expanding its impact in the San Antonio community. Responsibilities

Grant Research & Identification: Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations. Maintain a database of upcoming grant deadlines and funding cycles relevant to NOW Connection’s mission and programs. Proposal Writing & Submission: Write, prepare, and submit compelling and well-researched grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents in accordance with each grant’s guidelines and deadlines. Collaborate with internal teams, including program directors and financial staff, to gather accurate and up-to-date information required for grant submissions. Tailor each proposal to meet the specific requirements and priorities of the granting organizations. Grant Management: Track and manage awarded grants to ensure compliance with reporting requirements, timelines, and objectives. Work with the finance team to ensure proper budgeting and reporting for awarded grants. Maintain organized records of grant documents, submissions, and related communication. Fundraising Strategy: Assist in developing a comprehensive grant strategy aligned with NOW Connection’s short and long-term goals. Provide input on how grant funding can be effectively integrated into existing and new programs, including garden-based learning, health equity, environmental stewardship, and sustainability initiatives. Collaboration: Collaborate with NOW Connection’s leadership team, including the Board of Directors and Hydro Farm team to develop strong grant narratives that reflect the organization's mission and impact. Work closely with the finance and administrative teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. Reporting & Communication: Prepare and submit required grant reports, ensuring that all funding agencies receive timely updates on the outcomes and successes of funded projects. Communicate regularly with funders and donors, fostering strong relationships for future funding opportunities. Performance Metrics: Track success rates and outcomes of grant submissions to evaluate the effectiveness of the grant-writing strategy. Provide regular updates to the leadership team on grant activities, prospects, and award status. Application Process
