Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Uses shop math, algebra, geometry and trigonometry and measure drawing to determine the correct, most economical method to produce the mold.
Operates tracing lathes, tracing mills, grinders, milling machines, etc., to produce quality molds.
Calculates the coefficient of expansion of iron to determine joint clearance, etc.
Performs bench work to hand grind and chip prisms, logos, etc., in various molds.
Operates overhead hoist and quick stack to load and unload machines.
Makes tracers for use on tracking mills or lathes as required.
Repairs broken molds as necessary.
Assists in training mold maker apprentices.
Occasionally makes special tools required to complete molds.
Uses precision measuring devices as required.
Completes required reporting on a daily basis.
Assists others in resolving production difficulties to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
Keeps equipment and work area neat and orderly.
Uses safe working practices and reports all hazardous conditions.
Keeps supervisor informed of material, process and equipment needs and problems.
Performs other related duties as required.
Education (minimum education required) High School Diploma Equivalency/ GED
