Position Summary
The Sales Engineer assists the Sales team in reaching the revenue goal by providing quality pre-sales technical support and presentations focused on articulating value to the prospective buyer. Represent NETSCOUT as the product solution specialist and ensure the best possible technical solution based on customer information. Role may involve specialization in defined strategic initiatives and verticals such as System Integrators and Channel Partners. Reports to the Regional Director and collaborates with customers and Sales teams throughout the sales cycle. Sales Engineers and Account Managers work to uncover and develop new business relationships for NETSCOUT Systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with Account Manager(s) and Regional Director to develop business and technical strategies to maximize win potential. Investigate prospect needs and help develop a strategy to win business. Assist Sales Teams in making tactical sales decisions. Identify compelling events or business problems and offer attractive solutions. Provide specialized technical support using NETSCOUT’s best practices and available resources. Own lead technical activities: document infrastructure, understand challenges, and seek out projects. Assist in achieving financial targets through the sales process and by helping forecast opportunities. Create and deliver PoCs, manage bakeoffs, prepare for and run onsite or remote presentations, demonstrate NETSCOUT capabilities, and lead whiteboard discussions as needed. Engage with users regularly to understand needs and explore upsell opportunities. Adapt to multiple Integrators on a common customer network. Travel within the assigned territory and region (estimated 40–50%). Education & Skills
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent; MBA preferred; formal presentation training. Minimum 10 years in IT and/or 7 years as a pre-sales engineer or related role. Minimum 5 years in Network Observability or Network Security. Experience with Enterprise customers; proven pre-sales success; strong networking and application background; working knowledge of Linux/Windows. Cultural familiarity with the region; strong communication and organizational skills. Technical proficiencies include: Cisco routing/switching, TCP/IP, NetFlow, VoIP, LAN/WAN, security concepts, virtualization, cloud concepts, and related tools. CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or SDN/NFV a plus. Desired Certifications & Knowledge
CCNA, CCNP, CCIE a plus; Splunk, ServiceNow, ArcSight familiarity a plus; AI Operations, SOC experience a plus; nGenius product experience a plus. Working at NETSCOUT
We offer a compensation package that includes benefits such as generous vacation, equity, 401k matching, tuition reimbursement, medical/dental coverage, domestic partner benefits, HSA/FSA options, life and disability benefits, and charitable giving programs. The annual US salary range for this role is $200,000 to $215,000 On Target Earnings (OTE). Final compensation depends on experience, training, and location.
