Position Tax Advisor - National Tax - Indirect Tax - Sales and Use Tax - Manager - Multiple Positions - 1680287, Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

Provide professional indirect tax services to clients on evolving state and local tax environments, including sales and use tax advisory services, recovery services, structure review, risk assessment and mitigation, and assessment mitigation.

Analyze an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.

Research current market trends and clients’ business operations to cultivate long-lasting relationships.

Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve clients’ tax activities and help manage their state and local tax costs by aligning tax strategies with business initiatives.

Provide clients with knowledge, experience, resources, and processes to bridge the gap between expected and current capacities of a company’s tax department.

Manage and motivate teams of professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds; consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress.

Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge; maintain long-term client relationships and networks; cultivate business development opportunities.

Schedule Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.

Minimum Requirements

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Tax, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in Tax. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Law, Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Tax, or a related field and 4 years of work experience in Tax.

Must have 4 years of indirect tax experience in industry, professional services, mid-size/regional to large-size/national firms, law firm, or state department of revenue, providing sales and use tax advice.

Must have 4 years of experience in a broad range of sales and use tax processes and concepts.

Must have 4 years of experience with technical research in a tax context and drafting succinct summaries including tax advice in email or memo form.

Must have 4 years of experience gathering and modifying data including experience with Microsoft Excel.

Must have 2 years of experience in a supervisory role over at least two junior staff members.

Must have 2 years of experience providing clear direction on sales and use tax processes, including at least 3 of: monthly use tax accruals, periodic refund recoveries, tax audit processes, reviewing invoices for tax determination accuracy, preparing sales and use tax returns, or identifying nexus triggers in various jurisdictions.

Must have 2 years of experience supervising tax engagements, including budgeting and billing, being a primary client contact, and escalating issues to tax partners or executives as needed.

Must have at least one of the following or be eligible within 1 year: active CPA certification; US State Bar license; CMI designation in sales and use tax.

Requires domestic travel up to 50% to serve client needs.
