Overview
This position is scheduled 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The schedule is subject to change based on the business needs of the Bank. The Relationship Banker has a passion to do what is right for each customer and to build long-term customer relationships. They possess in-depth knowledge to make connections, discover needs, share recommendations, and grow relationships. They are skilled at communicating with customers to uncover unmentioned or unknown financial needs. Relationship Bankers retain and expand their book of business by deepening relationships through cross-sales and referrals. They have a broad knowledge of Exchange Bank products and services and can perform both teller and platform transactions while leading advisory conversations and providing a superior customer experience during every interaction. Relationship Bankers who serve as a "Manager on Duty" (MOD) are responsible for leading the branch in the absence of branch management.
Essential Functions Relationship Banker II – Manager on Duty
Performed duties include the standard responsibilities of a Relationship Banker I with additional scope as listed below.
Customer Experience: 20%
Build upon the collective team knowledge and success by mentoring and coaching newer Relationship Bankers.
Sales
Identify and recommend consumer loan products through interviewing the customer and understanding their needs. Provide and accept loan applications, including creating and forwarding packages to the Bank’s Consumer Lending Department.
Ensure a positive total customer experience by guiding the customer through the entire consumer loan process, including signing loan documents, answering questions, and disbursing loans.
Effectively manage a book of business.
Operations Leadership
Act as "manager on duty" in the absence of the branch management team by balancing customer needs, sales efforts, regulatory requirements, and sound operational practices.
Demonstrate sound decision making by approving exception items and transactions; review overdrawn accounts and determine whether to pay items; identify when situations require escalation or outside resources, and how to access those resources to ensure a superior customer experience.
Provide assistance and approvals on various transactions including cash overrides, wires, and over-limit transactions.
Perform operational functions including routine guidance, overdraft decisions, payroll approvals, and callbacks.
Provide guidance and help resolve more complex issues.
Audit, correct, and update records, files, and authorizations held at the branch.
Cross-train employees on various positions and tasks within the branch.
Provide input on recruitment, selection, training, and performance feedback for employees.
Lead daily operational tasks ensuring they occur within required time frames.
Non-Essential Functions
Lead various operations, tasks, and special projects as needed.
Relationship Banker III – Manager on Duty Performs all duties listed above with the addition of the following:
Customer Experience: 10%
Sales: 60%
Identify and recommend small business loan products through interviewing and understanding the customer’s business needs. For loans up to $100,000, provide and accept loan applications, including collecting financial documents from the customer as needed. Provide guidance on more complex loan transactions.
Provide consistent leadership and support of sales efforts through one-on-one coaching, branch huddles, and brainstorming creative solutions to customer needs.
Partner with Branch Manager and the Business Banking Department to facilitate rate requests and approvals for your customer.
Partner with the Branch Manager and other Calling Officers on outbound calls to prospective and existing customers.
Provide support to Branch Managers on business borrowing relationships over $100,000 by gathering and providing necessary documentation.
Conduct outbound calling efforts, including attendance at networking events.

Relationship Banker III– Manager on Duty Demonstrates knowledge and abilities listed above with the following additions:
Thorough knowledge of small business product suite including lending requirements, loan processing, and submission.
Full knowledge of all banking systems used in the branches and the ability to instruct others in their use.
Full knowledge of applicable state and federal banking regulations and the ability to instruct others to ensure branch compliance.
Ability to coach others on complex matters involving high levels of detail.
Ability to attend early morning and evening meetings and events.
Licenses and Certifications Relationship Banker II and III
National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration in accordance with the terms of the Safe Act of 2008.
Must maintain a valid CA driver’s license.
Physical Requirements Relationship Banker II and III
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (up to 50 pounds with assistance).
Ability to use a computer, laptop, tablet, keyboard, smart phone, and calculator.
Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent standing and/or sitting alternately in an open environment, at a teller window and a desk, as well as walking between work areas within the Bank.
Education And Experience Relationship Banker II– Manager on Duty
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; and knowledge typically gained through a minimum one year of experience as a Relationship Banker. Must demonstrate knowledge of Consumer Deposit and Lending products and Bank electronic products and delivery methods. Must consistently meet or exceed sales goals and demonstrate knowledge of branch operational procedures.
Relationship Banker III– Manager on Duty
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; and knowledge typically gained through a minimum two years’ experience as a Relationship Banker. Must demonstrate knowledge of Small Business product suite and the ability to coach others. Must consistently meet or exceed sales goals and demonstrate knowledge of branch operational procedures.
Compensation The hiring range for this position is $21.95 to $30.32 per hour. The compensation offered will fall within this range commensurate with the candidate's applicable experience, education and skills.
