The Senior Payment Specialist is responsible for balancing journal entries to both the bank statement and CPM balancing reporting tools. Responsibilities
Breaking down ACHs, lockboxes, and credit card payments for assigned markets. Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances for both the CBO and the markets. Maintains and balances journal entries daily and monthly for the finance department’s general ledger. Identify variances related to the journal entries vs. bank statements and communicate findings to the Payment Specialists to research and post outstanding payments. Communicate offsets and variances to management & finance. Work closely with finance to resolve discrepancies. Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings offering new paths, procedures and approaches to maximize opportunities for performance and process improvement. Serve as back-up for the Payment Specialists as needed. Qualifications
High School Graduate/GED required. Associate’s degree preferred. Experience (5-8 years minimum) in a healthcare (professional) billing, health insurance or equivalent operations environment. Healthcare (professional) billing, knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding, claim submission requirements and remittance processing. Understanding of the revenue cycle and how the components work together (preferred). Reconciliation/balancing and accounting knowledge required. Ability to handle data entry accurately in a high-paced environment. Ability to reconcile data and identify discrepancies. Ability to obtain/manipulate reports in CPM, balancing spreadsheets, and daily deposit spreadsheets. Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, research and problem solving ability. Results oriented with a proven track record of accomplishing tasks within a high-performing team environment. Service-oriented/customer-centric. Strong computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office. As an IPM Employee
