The Retail Marketing Manager drives growth across a diverse portfolio of convenience, cannabis, and food-forward retail brands by turning strategy into action. Partnering closely with the VP of Retail and Cannabis, this role helps shape and execute a multi-year retail marketing roadmap focused on increasing traffic, visit frequency, guest loyalty, and brand affinity.

With a strong emphasis on foodservice and guest engagement including the growth of Valori Pizzeria, this role leads retail-focused campaigns, social media, digital marketing, and loyalty initiatives across Maple Leaf Markets, SavOn Convenience Stores, Verona Collective dispensaries, and emerging concepts. Balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution, the Retail Marketing Manager works cross-functionally to deliver marketing programs that are both operationally executable and commercially impactful.

What does a Retail Marketing Manager do?

Assists with developing and executing a three-year retail marketing growth strategy, including expansion of foodservice offerings (with a focus on Valori Pizzeria), increased guest loyalty participation, and improved digital and social engagement.

Translate long-term retail and brand strategies into annual, quarterly, and campaign-level marketing plans across convenience and cannabis retail.

Develop and execute marketing strategies that drive traffic, increase visit frequency, grow average spend, and improve guest retention across retail brands.

Support the positioning and growth of Valori Pizzeria as a differentiated, destination-quality food offering within Maple Leaf Markets and SavOn locations.

Lead retail-focused social media strategy and execution, with accountability for growing engagement, reach, and relevance across platforms.

Support the development, growth, and ongoing optimization of the retail guest loyalty program, including promotions, communications, and performance measurement.

Collaborate with Enterprise Marketing to ensure retail initiatives are aligned with broader brand standards, campaigns, and timelines.

Work cross-functionally with operations, foodservice, and merchandising teams to ensure marketing plans are operationally executable and on-brand.

Manage day-to-day campaign execution, including promotions, digital communications, in-store marketing, and CRM initiatives.

Monitor campaign performance, guest behavior, and market trends; analyze results and recommend adjustments to improve effectiveness.

Assist with managing agency partners, freelancers, and vendors as needed to support campaign execution.

Support budget planning and ensure marketing resources are used efficiently and effectively.

Maintain strong internal relationships and contribute ideas that support innovation and continuous improvement across retail marketing.

Work Experience To be successful as a Retail Marketing Manager, you'll need:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.

Minimum of four to six years of progressive marketing experience, preferably supporting multi-unit retail, convenience, cannabis, hospitality, or food-forward brands.

Experience working with brands that have a strong food, beverage, or hospitality component, where driving frequency, menu awareness, and guest loyalty were central to growth.

Demonstrated ability to support strategic planning and successfully execute marketing initiatives from concept through measurement.

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.

Comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing outcomes without direct authority.

Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform decisions and optimize marketing performance.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to obtain and maintain valid gaming and cannabis licenses as required.

Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 11 - 20 pounds.
