Are you passionate about sharing stories or messages through video and visual media? Are you interested in a senior-level, highly creative role on an award-winning marketing team at UNM? University Communication & Marketing (UCAM) is seeking a talented and visionary videography/photography specialist for the Senior Multimedia Production Specialist position within UCAM Creative Services. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of University Marketing for Creative Production and will work closely with others on the UNM marketing team to produce professional promotional video and photo content for UNM and a variety of other University departments. This role oversees and executes professional video and photo projects from concept to creation—with the capability of personally executing all phases of video and photo production when necessary. This includes meeting with clients, developing creative concept options, camera and lights set up and operation, and editing/delivering video content that meets a variety of marketing, communication, and social media objectives. This person plays a key role in the management and continued growth of the University’s Creative Service Center as well as the UNM brand, specifically as it applies to video and motion graphic standards. This role is highly collaborative, working closely with marketers, photographers, videographers, and graphic designers—all within a department that also oversees communication, media relations, web services and social media. This position may supervise or mentor student employees and/or other videography staff. This person may also work with outside film companies producing videos for UNM or on UNM’s campus. Additionally, this role leads the management and maintenance of UCAM’s shared video and photography equipment inventory and oversees file organization, storage, and archiving systems for video and photo assets. The ideal candidate has an exceptional eye for video production and the business and professional skills to interact with University clients. They are familiar with advertising, marketing and social media video trends. They rely on experience and good judgement to problem solve and overcome project obstacles. Applicants must include a portfolio with videography reel(s) and photography examples, along with a résumé and cover letter. Responsibilities
Video Content Production Pre-production: researches and develops ideas and project estimates; writes scripts; develops storyboards; schedules interviews and facilitates as needed; recruits talent; arranges locations; recommends video distribution opportunities Production: films and photographs on location; sets up film equipment including lighting, teleprompters, props, backdrops, audio equipment, and one or multiple cameras as needed; conducts interviews; directs talent; directs other production team members Post-production: edits recorded materials; completes related paperwork such as clearances; designs video graphics and titles; selects music and audio elements; makes editorial decisions regarding assembly of information, illustrations, and content; labels, organizes, and distributes completed recorded materials Training, Direction & Mentorship
Provides training and feedback to team collaborators Participates in ongoing development of the University’s video brand standards May supervise student employees, interns, and or junior level staff Account, Client & Project Management
Supports project and client intake for the service center, arranging client meetings or communicating with prospective clients Regularly communicates with clients for project discovery or status updates Participates in service center leadership discussions and supports the center’s overarching growth goals Supports on campus departmental and commercial filming requests Equipment & Data Management
Assists in monitoring, repair, repair requests and upkeep of audio/visual equipment—as well as the management of equipment use by other team members Evaluates audio/visual equipment and makes recommendations for new equipment purchases, upgrades, and maintenance Leads in the organization and technological management of video files, photo files and media file archives Job Requirements
Qualified candidates must be able to work in an integrated marketing communication team environment and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Candidates must be able to interact well with a diverse faculty, staff and student population in a professional and productive manner and create positive working relationships across campus and within UCAM. Qualified candidates will have: Ability to manage concurrent projects; Expertise in video production techniques and best practices with a strong understanding of video and lighting equipment and techniques; Experience in new media and social media trends, and content development strategies; Proficient experience in Adobe creative software; Excellent communication & writing skills; Ability to be a strategic thinker, planner, & problem solver; Ability to manage/administer data and media file storage on existing department servers; Ability to take responsibility and ownership of assigned work; Ability to Foster & Promote teamwork, & is committed to a positive, collaborative work environment. Working Conditions
This position is normally performed on campus and during regular business hours. Some evenings and weekends will be required. This job includes moderate physical activity, including carrying and setting up professional level video equipment. Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications
Bonus Desired Skills & Experience: Drone photography / videography certifications and experience Experience with Synology, AWS and other data storage options Strategic understanding of the implementation of digital, social, and broadcast video marketing. Ability to clearly teach and mentor videographers, photographers and students in professional video and photo practices Experience submitting broadcast commercials through digital delivery systems—such as Extreme Reach Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are a plus, but not required Additional Requirements
