
Senior Casualty Claim Representative

Overview

Location:
Hybrid (Hastings, MI) or Fully Remote. Candidates in MI, OH, IN, IL, or WI preferred.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
What You’ll Do
Manage a personal caseload of casualty claims within company policy and legal guidelines.
Communicate regularly with insureds, claimants, agents, and vendors to guide the claim resolution process.
Apply appropriate coverage analysis, documenting rationale and engaging leadership as needed.
Investigate, evaluate, and settle claims promptly and fairly.
Identify and pursue salvage and subrogation opportunities to minimize loss.
Use authorized tools and systems to document, estimate, and support claim decisions.
Establish and maintain accurate case reserves based on current knowledge and anticipated outcomes.
Monitor vendor services to ensure only necessary and cost-effective work is performed.
Support less experienced claims staff with technical guidance as appropriate.
Share relevant claim insights with internal partners (e.g., Underwriting, Loss Control).
Participate in departmental projects and serve on committees or special assignments as needed.
Additional Role Highlights
This role may include occasional travel to meet with agency partners or participate in account reviews.
Candidates working in or near Hastings, MI may be eligible for a hybrid schedule.
We welcome applicants outside our core five-state footprint if their experience aligns well with the role.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of progressively responsible experience handling casualty claims, ideally in a commercial lines setting.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent insurance education and experience may be considered.
Industry designations such as AIC, SCLA, or CPCU (or active progress toward one).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated critical thinking, sound judgment, and customer service orientation.
Ability to manage conflict, navigate sensitive situations, and work independently.
Proficiency in claims systems and documentation tools.
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
