Outside Sales Representative

to grow and manage sales of

metal truss hangers, connectors, and structural hardware

to

wood truss manufacturers and component plants . This role is relationship-driven and technically focused, requiring frequent in-person visits to truss plants, collaboration with truss designers and plant managers, and the ability to position QuickTie as a

reliable, cost-effective, engineer-approved alternative

to incumbent hardware suppliers. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Outside Sales & Account Development Develop and manage relationships with wood truss manufacturers, component plants, and prefabrication facilities Conduct regular plant visits, jobsite observations (when appropriate), and in-person sales meetings Convert competitive accounts and expand QuickTie’s share within existing truss manufacturers Drive adoption of QuickTie connectors as approved, standard, or preferred hardware at the plant level Achieve or exceed assigned revenue, margin, and new-account goals Technical & Application Support Act as a technical resource for customers on: Truss hanger and connector selection Load capacities and installation requirements Code compliance and engineering approvals Work directly with truss designers, engineers, and plant managers to: Review connector applications Identify value-engineering opportunities Support interpretation of ICC-ES reports, ASTM standards, and applicable building codes Support efforts to gain engineering acceptance and specification of QuickTie products Assist truss plants with standardization and approved-vendor programs Position QuickTie on availability, responsiveness, technical support, and total installed cost Territory & Sales Management Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and opportunity pipelines Coordinate pricing, quotes, lead times, and logistics with QuickTie’s internal teams Support long-term supply agreements and strategic accounts Qualifications & Experience

Required 3+ years of

outside sales experience

in building materials, structural hardware, or truss-related products Demonstrated success selling to

truss manufacturers or component plants Working knowledge of: Wood truss manufacturing processes Structural connectors, hangers, and fastening systems Load paths and basic structural principles Ability to read and interpret truss drawings and construction documents Strong communication, negotiation, and in-person presentation skills Willingness to travel extensively within assigned territory Preferred Prior experience with metal truss hangers, framing hardware, or engineered connectors Familiarity with IBC, IRC, ICC-ES reports, and ASTM standards Engineering, construction management, or technically oriented sales background Existing relationships within the truss manufacturing industry Microsoft office suite of software QuickTie offers a

base salary plus uncapped commission

structure designed to reward both

growth and long-term account development . Typical Plan Structure (example):

Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience) Commission paid on

gross sales

(or contribution margin, depending on account type) Tiered commission rates that increase as sales exceed annual quota Additional incentives for: New truss-manufacturer account wins Conversion of competitive plants Approved-standard or plant-wide hardware adoption Monthly or quarterly commission payouts Clear annual on-target earnings (OTE) with strong upside for top performers Final commission details are territory-specific and finalized prior to hire.
