Primary Purpose Develops the ALS social services program to ensure the highest quality of care and support for individuals and families. Performs strategic planning, service program development, staff/student supervision, patient counseling and community outreach to enhance service delivery and meet organizational goals.

This position is contingent on the availability and continuation of external-funding and/or contract. As such, any offer of employment may be withdrawn or employment ended in the event the external funding and/or contract ceases or is reduced.

Essential Job Functions

Develops and implements policies, procedures, and best practices for ALS social service programs.

Leads initiatives to improve the effectiveness and impact of social services.

Collaborates with leadership to align programs with the organization’s mission and goals, including tailoring social services and counseling to individual patient and caregiver needs.

Advocates for individuals and families, ensuring access to necessary resources and services.

Addresses complex cases and support crisis intervention efforts as needed.

Establishes and maintains partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and service providers.

Represents the organization in public forums, conferences, and networking events.

Promotes community awareness and outreach efforts to enhance service impact.

Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing social services.

Oversees documentation, reporting, and data collection to support program effectiveness and funding opportunities.

Job Requirements Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge:

Expert knowledge in neuroscience rehabilitation with a focus on neurodegenerative conditions such as ALS.

Medicine – General knowledge of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human diseases or disorders, including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative health-care measures.

Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.

Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.

English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.

Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Advanced knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulatory bodies affecting healthcare practices.

Physical Requirements And Working Environment

Required Certifications/Licensures Required Education:

Master’s Degree

Major (if required):

Social Work or MSW-Equivalent Program

Required Experience:

Minimum ten (10) years of experience in case management

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in academic medical centers or research.

Experience with progressive neurodegenerative diseases
