Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Uses computer-aided design equipment and tools such as CAD, CAM, NX, or CATIA. Gathers information, conducts studies, performs calculations, and prepares rough layouts or sketches to present design proposals. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to consider ease of manufacture, material availability, and contractual specifications. Excludes classifications where incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments. This position will support design initiatives for Virginia Class model file conversions. The candidate will convert 3D models into the Siemens NX application, including setting up construction views. All trade disciplines will be involved in this effort. Must Have
Associate7s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience One of the following may be used as equivalent to an Associate7s Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience Why HII
