Manager, PR & Marketing
to join our
Strategy and Communications team . This is a
full-time
position based out of our regional office in
Washington, DC , with a
hybrid work model .
The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is comprised of more than 1,800 Permanente physicians and nearly 300 staff professionals who come together to make a positive impact on the health and lives of about 750,000 Kaiser Permanente members across Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Reporting to the
Chief Strategy & Communications Officer , the
Manager, PR & Marketing
plays a key role in shaping MAPMG’s public presence and reputation. This position leads earned media and PR strategies, elevates physician and executive voices, and translates complex healthcare data into clear, compelling marketing messages that strengthen brand trust, engagement, and growth. You will partner closely with physicians, executives, and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated communications that advance organizational priorities and connect meaningfully with our communities.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute earned media and PR strategies that increase organizational visibility and thought leadership
Identify, shape, and pitch compelling stories to local, regional, and national media outlets and digital channels
Prepare and coach physicians and executive leaders for interviews, presentations, and public engagements
Lead communications planning and execution for major regional initiatives and patient-facing campaigns and partner with clinical and operational teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and coordinated rollout of campaigns
Translate data and analytics into persuasive, evidence-based marketing messages that highlight organizational strengths
Create presentations, talking points, and scripts for physician and executive communications representing the organization in community, business, and policy forums; create thought leadership and organizational announcements aligned with brand voice and objectives
Collaborate with clinical, operational, and communications partners to ensure coordinated execution
Contribute flexibly across internal and external communications, digital content creation, and evolving priorities, including producing short-form video content featuring physicians for social media storytelling, drafting scripts, and recording audio content for digital campaigns as needed
What is required
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, media relations, or external affairs
Demonstrated success developing and executing earned media strategies and increasing organizational visibility
Experience managing media relations, including story development, pitching, and post-placement amplification
Proven ability to coach and prepare physicians or senior leaders for media and public engagements
Strong ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives
Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills
High level of judgment, organization, and attention to detail
Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC metropolitan area
Must be able to commute to Washington, DC, a minimum of one day per week. Occasional travel to the Capitol Hill Regional Office and local medical centers may be required, depending on project needs
Must provide documentation of required COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as a condition of employment

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from
