
Summary
Manheim Township's Teen Adventure Camp is an 8-week summer camp running mid-June to early August for kids grades 7-10. Working hours will vary Monday-Thursday between 8:30am-4:30pm. Select mandatory training schedule will be provided by the program manager. The camp utilizes township parks for camp activities in addition to multiple field trips each week. This seasonal position provides a leadership/supervisory role for the camp, works closely with the Director, and reports to the Youth Program Manager. The Teen Camp Assistant Director will be in direct contact with children, counselors, and parents. Essential Functions
Work closely with the Teen Camp Director to oversee day-to-day operations of Teen Adventure Camp including staff management and emergency protocols. Act as the secondary point of contact for parents/guardians and handle communications through the cellphone and teen camp email address. Ensure each camper is appropriately signed in and out each day. Provide a leadership role to camp counselors. Assist Director with assigning roles and delegate tasks for the day. Supervise campers' daily activities, including active supervision and engagement when at the Overlook Pool. Ensure campers are always in a safe environment. Lead structured games, activities, and crafts independently and as part of a team. Handle, document and communicate any minor behavioral and medical issues with parents. Document and report major behavioral and medical issues to Youth Program Manager. Assist with preparations for future weeks by preparing camp rosters, newsletters, activities, and supplies. Assure camp areas are clean and organized throughout each day. Fill in for Teen Camp Director as needed. Physical Requirements
Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently. Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to talk, hear, and see. Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers. Occasional lifting of up to 15lbs. Competencies
Ability to act as a leader and positive role model to campers and staff. Ability to engage with campers and parents in a professional and constructive manner. Ability to lead structured games and activities, and to adapt activities as needed. Ability to effectively communicate rules, guidelines, scoring, and possible scenarios regarding activities. Ability to communicate to children from grades 7-10. Speak clearly to large and small groups. Outgoing, energetic, and positive attitude. Skills
Knowledge of various recreational games and activities. Good leadership, communication, and social skills. Abilities

Enrolled in a secondary education program for Education, Park and Rec, or related field. 2-years supervising children. Preferred Education and Experience
Certified Teacher for a PA school. Additional Eligibility Requirements
