
Senior Piping Designer - Transmission & Distribution

Description
A Senior Piping Designer will support and lead various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, proposal design documents, report preparation, piping specifications, project setup, and preparation of construction documentation and piping plans as part of a project team. This role will also include training junior designers. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. As a Piping Designer, you will ensure conformance with applicable codes and standards, as well as company policies and procedures. You will develop work processes, procedures, standards, and perform training. You must have a strong working knowledge of discipline design requirements, layout ability, and 3D CAD, including CADWorx and Plant 3D methods, as well as 2D AutoCAD and Navisworks. You must also have the ability to interface effectively with clients, project managers and engineers, other discipline designers, and project controls on large and small, single- or multi-disciplined projects. Lead a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, incorporating various system components, and refining rough sketches. Follow all company, client, and project design and drafting standards. Prepare CAD Procedures at the beginning of each project. Development and delivery of modeled solutions using the 3D integrated system application aligned to the Process Piping discipline. Improving processes and creating initiatives to improve the quality of projects. Preparation of drawings, lists, and other deliverables. Set up and create Isometric drawings in 3D CAD platforms. Ability to create fabrication drawings that would be used by Contractors. Assigning work to other designers. Training other designers. Occasional Field walk-downs. Quality review PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written description from the design engineer. CAD PFDs & P&IDs using project-directed design software. Preliminarily assign Process line numbers following design specifications. Quality Review Plan drawings, Isometric drawings, Plot plan, etc. Participate in Site layout discussions. Quality review basic formulas, principles and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the piping discipline. Lead drawing planning, development, and production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Evaluate designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects for quality assurance. Approve reports, drawings, and tests to plan and lead design projects to meet deliverables. Approve design codes and specifications related to design requirements. Lead production of design drawings within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines. Compute calculations for layouts, equipment, wiring diagrams, and schematics under the direction of the engineer. Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into piping design and layouts for project financial goals. Responsible for the quality review of all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner. Train, mentor, and develop less experienced drafting, detailing and design staff members. Be able to Lead Model Reviews with Clients through Navisworks in an efficient and professional manner. Participate in marketing and client development meetings. Responsible for the piping design QA/QC process. Create/ Modify CADWorx and Plant 3D Specifications. Create ISO, plan, and other drawing templates. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s Degree in drafting technology or related field and 13 years of related experience required. Or Associate\'s Degree and 14 years of related experience required. Or 15 years of progressive detailing and design experience required. Expert understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs. Expert ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings. Expert knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems. Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of the assigned discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks. Work collaboratively with others, including but not limited to clients, Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers in a multi-disciplinary project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Compensation
$110,000.00-160,000.00 Yearly The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program. Benefits
