Job Summary

The Portfolio Analyst will work closely with our Asset Managers and the SVP of Asset Management on client matters such as analyzing client portfolios, reviewing wealth management analyses, and making asset allocation recommendations. The role supports liaison efforts between Portfolio Management Teams and Asset Managers, performs due diligence on specific investment choices and vendors, and provides valuable analysis and insights to assist in pitches and reviews via portfolio analysis and planning software. The analyst helps in establishing appropriate asset allocations and identifying strengths and weaknesses in client portfolios, whether or not they are invested with us. The Portfolio Analyst also operationalizes our analysis and due diligence software and provides secondary coverage for managed and brokerage portfolio trades. This role requires attention to detail and comfort when speaking with internal and external clients, and includes trade execution and trade strategy as well as maintaining software used by the asset management team.

Contributing member of large market Update and training calls

Analyzes performance, style, and risk measures for investment portfolios

Reviews client accounts and prepares portfolio reviews at the request of Relationship Managers and Asset Managers, including portfolio review, portfolio observation write-ups, reinvestment analysis, and Monte Carlo simulations

Recommends manager selections within managed accounts and variable annuities

Evaluates outside accounts to make asset allocation recommendations

Uses software tools to analyze clients’ outside accounts and current portfolios (Y:Charts, Right Capital, eMoney, Excel, Morningstar Annuity, Envestnet, Tamarac)

Fidelity Institutional Trading platforms (Wealthscape) — security, debt & fund order entry

Creates “portfolio observations” and recommendations addressing questionable investment strategies

Performs due diligence on portfolio managers and documents all due diligence conversations

Keeps abreast of market conditions through vendor conference calls and market outlooks

Provides analysis of new and existing vendors and reviews software and technology enhancements

Maintains and updates software to reflect changing market environments and coordinates updates to capital market assumptions across platforms

Assists senior analysts, SVP of Asset Management, and Operations on special projects

Acts as lead trader for unmanaged full-service brokerage accounts and maintains trading readiness for managed accounts

Maintains and updates strategic model portfolios in Right Capital

Provides ongoing support to newly developed investment and variable annuity solutions

Job Competencies

Required Knowledge

Experience with broad asset classes such as equity, fixed income, and alternatives

Experience with a broad range of investment vehicles (open/closed funds, private offerings, process and event-driven alternatives, separately managed accounts)

Knowledge of industry regulation, practices, and competitors

Writing and delivering attribution analyses

Ability to discuss capital markets and economic fundamentals

Experience with due diligence reviews of money manager solutions

Knowledge of variable annuity solutions and optional riders
