Job Description As the Director of Financial Operations, you\'ll lead the company\'s accounts payable function, overseeing daily operations and driving strategic improvements in systems, processes, and controls. Day-to-day responsibilities will initially focus on Workday implementations and then pivot to overseeing AP and automation. You will be instrumental in automating or transforming the entire AP process. This role will be instrumental in the implementation of a new ERP and payment platform, ensuring smooth transition, user adoption, and process optimization.
You\'ll serve as the primary business owner for financial operations modules within Workday, designing workflows, approval hierarchies, and business processes that align with organizational objectives while maintaining robust internal controls. Beyond implementation, you\'ll build and lead a high-performing shared services team, establish KPIs and SLAs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and accuracy. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong background in accounting, technology transformation, and operational excellence—preferably within the commercial real estate industry.
Qualifications
Workday experience
Proven ERP implementation leadership (configuration through go-live and stabilization)
Real estate industry experience (or comparable asset-driven environment)
10+ years of progressive experience in Financial Operations or accounting, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proven success leading ERP implementations and large-scale process transformations
Deep understanding of accounting principles and general ledger integration
Strong knowledge of OCR technologies, routing and approval workflows, and AP automation tools
Excellent communication, project management, and change management skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organization
Responsibilities
Lead the configuration and implementation of Workday ERP for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Travel & Expense Reimbursement modules
Design workflows, approval hierarchies, and business processes that align with organizational objectives and internal controls
Partner with IT and implementation consultants to ensure system configuration meets business requirements
Develop and document standard operating procedures for all configured processes
Serve as the primary business owner for financial operations modules within Workday
Ensure proper chart of accounts mapping and general ledger integration across all financial operations processes
Understand and articulate the impact of A/P, A/R, and T&E transactions on the general ledger and financial statements
Design controls to maintain data integrity and financial accuracy throughout the procure-to-pay and order-to-cash cycles
Collaborate with the Controller and accounting teams to ensure month-end close processes are efficient and accurate
Support external audit requirements related to financial operations processes
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing shared services team supporting financial operations
Establish service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the financial operations function
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer service
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development within the team
Manage vendor relationships and evaluate outsourcing opportunities where appropriate
Identify opportunities for process automation and standardization across financial operations
Design and implement internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Establish metrics and dashboards to monitor operational performance and drive data-driven decision making
Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and systems
Education
Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Management, or related field required
CPA not required but would be a bonus.
