Job Summary:

This dynamic role allows you to apply your knowledge of urban forestry and modern tree care in an interactive setting. This is an Outside Sales position. Project managers customarily and regularly meet with new and existing clients away from Seattle Tree Care’s place of business, including at client homes and project sites, and provide their professional assessment of our client’s desired outcomes based on best tree care practices. The primary duty of this position is making sales and obtaining customer commitments for paid tree care services, including preparing and presenting proposals and securing approval for work to be performed.

Project Managers translate field assessments into professional proposals, manage project details and coordinate with clients on all aspects of their project. The ideal candidate has a unique combination of hard and soft skills, can visualize the work (having done the work themselves) or is both visually & systematically wired (to be able to learn & duplicate processes) in order to deliver effective, accurate, and consistent work product.

A successful candidate will enjoy public interfacing, have an innate desire to continue learning about arboriculture, is driven by safety, goal setting & achieving objectives, and is self motivated & organized. Strong communication skills, situational awareness, a commitment to team success and attention to detail are must-haves. The ideal candidate pairs these must-haves with a practical background in the green industry.

Responsibilities

Perform client intake and qualifying

Provide excellent customer service with prompt and timely communication

Actively seek new sales opportunities through networking and community engagement

Perform inspection and diagnostics of tree care services

Meet with potential new & existing clients to review and discuss tree care

Work closely with clients and the Project Coordinator to schedule all green-light projects

Prepare proposals which clearly outline the scope of work and cost and submit to prospective clients in timely manner

Prepare work orders for the crew to optimize job efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction

Manage project details and costs to ensure projects fall within profitability

Gauge and assess project equipment needs to maintain project safety and profitability

File and obtain city permits as necessary

Perform day-of-work site visits and communicate with the crews to ensure the work is performed to specifications outlined in client proposal and according to STC Safety policies

Meet with client onsite to answer questions or address concerns regarding tree work being performed

Identify and secure new possible residential, commercial, and municipal contracts

Provide input for company-wide strategy, systems, and growth

Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Skills

Current ISA Arborist certification

Tree Risk Assessor Qualification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire)

Minimum 1 year experience in customer service, estimating, and client interface

Clean driving record & ability to pass a background check

Basic computer skills, including experience with CRM software, google, etc.

Ability to verbally understand and communicate in English

Strong organizational skills

Mathematical skills

Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and relationships with peers, crews, and clients

The ability to perform light work

The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces

The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations

The ability to work in varying environmental conditions

The ability to keyboard

The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
