Overview

To support the University of Texas System’s information security initiatives. This role will assist with cybersecurity-related communications, marketing campaigns, training content development, and event coordination. It’s ideal for someone detail-oriented, creative, and interested in gaining experience in marketing, communications, and event planning within a technical and security-focused environment. Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Cybersecurity Communications & Marketing Support

Assist in creating and editing content for newsletters, websites, social media, and training materials focused on cybersecurity awareness.

Help design marketing materials such as flyers, posters, and digital graphics for security campaigns.

Event Coordination Support

Assist with planning and logistics for cybersecurity conferences and departmental events (virtual and in-person).

Help manage registration lists, prepare presentation materials, and coordinate with vendors and track engagement metrics.

Provide on-site or virtual support during events.

Training & Awareness Support

Help organize and distribute cybersecurity awareness materials.

Assist with scheduling and tracking training sessions and track engagement metrics.

Support phishing simulation campaigns and reporting.

General Project Assistance

Maintain SharePoint and Teams sites with updated content.

Provide support for communications and event projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Detail-oriented, creative, and interested in gaining experience in marketing, communications, and event planning within a technical and security-focused environment.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma.

Completion of at least 30 credit hours of higher education or may substitute one year of related experience for 30 credit hours.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

College degree is preferred.

Experience with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).

Interest in cybersecurity and technology.

Event planning or coordination experience.

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions.

Uses standard office equipment.
