Overview Digital Content Producer (full-time)

KTLA, the #1 station in the nation’s #2 market, is looking for an experienced digital journalist to produce content for KTLA.com.

Responsibilities

Write, report and post news stories on KTLA.com and across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram. Demonstrate excellent newswriting skills and news judgment, with the ability to curate and research stories independently.

Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of reporting, sourcing, transparency and journalism ethics, with a commitment to integrity and accuracy.

Write accurate, concise, and clear stories that present the most important details up front and are easily readable for our audience. Serve as own copy editor, ensuring stories and social posts use AP Style and are free of typos and errors.

Be detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle stories and duties while working closely with the rest of the digital team. Multitask under intense deadline pressure.

Prioritize stories based on audience impact. Follow directions, work well with others, and make independent decisions. Adapt to changing technologies and expectations.

Integrate digital content with broadcast coverage by working effectively with the assignment desk, show producers and on-air reporters, navigating various personalities and communication styles.

Manage video livestreams and edit and post video clips to KTLA.com and KTLA’s social media channels. Experience with nonlinear video editing and web publishing systems is crucial.

Knowledge of Photoshop or similar photo editing tools is preferred.

Familiarity and comfort with X, Facebook and Instagram; think creatively about social posts and understand how social media supports a news organization. Be willing to adapt, experiment, and follow new developments in social media.

Requirements

Previous experience in a local newsroom, especially on a digital platform or in local television news, is strongly preferred.

Ability to respond to breaking news with speed, write and juggle multiple stories throughout the day, and produce clean copy without the support of a copy editor. Continuously update and rewrite stories with the newest information and promptly post updates on the station's social media accounts.

Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in news required.

Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.

Flexible scheduling, including early mornings, nights, weekends and some holidays, and willingness to fill in for others as needed. Schedule may change depending on KTLA’s needs.

KTLA will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.

Compensation Compensation: $33/hour+ commensurate with skill level and experience.
