Position Overview The
Collections Specialist
will locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts, solicit payment, and maintain accurate records of collection efforts. The role involves direct communication with customers and coordination with internal departments to resolve outstanding balances.
Responsibilities
Locate and notify customers of overdue accounts via mail, phone, or in-person visits.
Receive payments and post amounts to customer accounts.
Prepare statements for the credit department if customers fail to respond.
Initiate repossession proceedings or service disconnection when necessary.
Keep detailed records of collection activities and account status.
Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules based on customer financial situations.
Advise customers on necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.
Answer customer questions regarding account issues.
Confer with customers to determine reasons for overdue payments and review contract terms.
Required Experience/Skills
Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or related field.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office).
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills
Experience in the health/wellness or consumer products industry.
Familiarity with local and state pay transparency and employment laws.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
