Summary The Deli Counter Clerk will assist customers with their deli selections, prepare food items, maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area, and ensure exceptional service.

Responsibilities Customer Service

Greet customers and assist them in selecting deli products.

Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and offering recommendations.

Department Operational Support

Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the deli counter.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time in a fast-paced environment

Merchandising and Stocking

Ensure a well-stocked and appealing variety of meats and cheeses are available for customers.

Ensure accurate pricing and portioning of deli products.

Follow First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures to minimize spoilage and reduce waste.

Assist in receiving and stocking deli products as needed.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

Maintain cleanliness and sanitization standards of the deli counter and equipment.

Report any faulty or broken equipment to the direct manager.

Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.

Routine cleaning tasks and the proper use of approved cleaning agents.

Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in a retail environment.

Work will be performed both inside (temperature-controlled environments i.e. refrigerator/freezer) and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions,

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended periods. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications

Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe, Food Handlers Card) or attained within 30 days of hire.

Flexibility in work schedule, including weekends and holidays.

A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs is a requirement of employment.

Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple priorities.

Reading, writing, basic math, and verbal communication skills.

6 months of experience working in a food service or customer service role.

Computer skills in the use of POS equipment.

Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
