Role Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for NMOSD & gMG-Rare Disease will support local territory R&D tactics and communicate accurate, clear, and valued scientific information about Amgen products to the medical community. The role collaborates with the MSL TA head and local TA lead, and provides field observations to internal teams. The territory includes Orange County and San Diego in Southern California. Responsibilities

Engage with healthcare partners to educate and communicate clinical and scientific data to advance the scientific platform aligned with Amgen’s goals. Educate and communicate clinical value, outcomes, and economic data to payers, providers, key partners, advocacy groups, and access enablers. Respond to unsolicited inquiries consistent with MSL compliance standards. Provide and/or present field observations and insights to internal collaborators. Implement a scientific engagement plan according to annual MSL goals and metrics. Develop and implement local operating plans in line with the scientific engagement plan. Support speaker training as requested and ensure speakers are updated on new data. Support Amgen-sponsored research and may serve as a study lead. Liaise with potential investigators in non-sponsored clinical research. Lead and/or participate on project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics as delegated by MSL leadership. Advance the MSL value proposition, identify gaps, achieve results, and model Amgen's values and leadership attributes in communications. Lead and support congress activities aligned with strategy. Collaborate compliantly with cross-functional colleagues; may serve as the main point of contact. Maintain clinical acuity and expertise and ensure timely completion of assigned training; may serve as a training lead, New Hire Mentor, and/or International MSL mentor or trainer. Qualifications

Required:

Doctorate degree Required:

Master’s degree and 3 years of Medical Affairs experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Medical Affairs experience Preferred:

PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO (Other Doctoral degrees are considered) Preferred:

Two years of proven experience in scientific or medical affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company Preferred:

Three or more years of clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research (post-doctoral training acceptable) Preferred:

Rare Disease therapeutic area expertise Preferred:

Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Preferred:

Ability to travel up to 60% for territory management and conference attendance Preferred:

May require up to 15-hour workdays due to travel Preferred:

Ability to learn new business applications across hardware tools (e.g., PC, iPad) Preferred:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Preferred:

Professional, proactive demeanor; strong interpersonal and communication skills
