The Field Medical Outcomes is a field medical colleague responsible for informing customer decision-making and improving population health through real-world data analytics, pharmacoeconomic analyses, outcomes evaluations and medical presentations. The role educates customers on the clinical and economic impact of Pfizer medicines and products and may provide disease area/therapeutic area/product-based expertise for designated TA areas with a primary focus on integrated health care organizations, including Integrated Delivery Systems, payer customers and Specialty Pharmacy Providers (SPPs). Role responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations.
Provide objective and scientifically sound medical information regarding Pfizer’s medicines and the disease states they treat through pharmacoeconomic models, outcomes tools, HOPEs, non-interventional studies, and collaborations.
Prioritize the needs of the customer and Pfizer to develop and implement Real-World Evidence-based outcomes tools (such as HOPEs and educational programs) to identify opportunities for improving patient care, closing quality gaps, and addressing population health management.
Serve as the Field Medical Outcomes lead for assigned customers, developing and executing a medical account plan, representing Medical Affairs, sharing customer insights, and identifying opportunities for collaboration to improve patient care.
Understand principles of study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation and communicate these concepts with customers.
Engage with key stakeholders within the market (Quality Improvement Organizations, Advocacy Groups, Coalitions, and other medical/healthcare associations) to understand population health priorities and identify opportunities aligned with Pfizer objectives.
Provide Medical support for HIT initiatives including initial assessment, triaging opportunities, assessing capabilities and feasibility, and providing clinical relevance to proposed HIT methodologies.
Analyze workflows in clinical healthcare information systems to facilitate care processes, reduce gaps, improve care efficiencies, and maximize quality and population health.
Develop clinical content that embodies the clinical perspective while using information technology to develop strategy and tools.
Provide expertise on e-data collection and planning for Field Medical colleagues.
Work cross-functionally to identify, design, and deploy HIT solutions aligned with Pfizer Medical goals for Field Medical use; support HIT/clinical informatics resources for launches; maintain Clinical Informatics capabilities for external collaborations.
Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs leadership with clinical/professional associations; enhance recognition through collaborative projects, publications and healthcare awards.
Provide approved medical content in designated therapeutic areas focusing on organized customers (National Payers, Regional Payers, SPPs).
Keep abreast of developments in the field by reviewing literature, networking with experts, and attending conferences; respond to unsolicited requests from customers on clinical interpretation and pharmacoeconomic impact to support formulary decisions or patient outcomes.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Candidate demonstrates leadership with the ability to influence and collaborate, develop and coach others, oversee and guide work to achieve outcomes and business impact.
Bachelor’s degree in health science required
PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree preferred
Relevant experience: 8+ years with bachelor’s; 7+ years with master’s; 5+ years with terminal doctorate
Experience in Clinical, formulary and/or management; Managed Care/pharmaceutical industry/Quality Improvement; Data Analytics and HEOR; strong methodological skills.
Significant experience interacting with payers and organized customers.
Excellent oral and written communication; strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple demands and conflicts.
Ability to travel (including overnight); operate a Pfizer car; eligible to travel 40–50% of time; location within travel feasibility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in field-based medical/outcomes roles; data analysis of health care data.
Clinical Informatics or HIT expertise; working with claims data or EHR systems.
Residency or Fellowship; Microsoft Access or statistics software experience; data programming.
Understanding of US healthcare system and trends; EHR optimization experience.
Non-standard work schedule, travel or environment requirements
Valid US driver’s license; driving record in compliance; DUI/DWI or other impairments in past 7 years may disqualify.
Travel 40–50% of time; proximity to airline hub; some weekend work; Pfizer car use; ability to travel for meetings and conferences.
