Description NICOLEHOLLIS, an award-winning, large size Interior Design firm seeks a talented and motivated Project Designer to assist our Residential Design Team.
The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in the architecture and design industry, focusing on high-end residential design.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Document Phase Responsibilities
Research and develop construction documents, drawings, elevations, details, specifications package, moodboards, renderings, design presentation for residential and/or hospitality project(s), to illustrate non-structural and/or non-seismic partition layouts; power and communications locations; reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs; materials and finishes; and furniture layouts
Formulate preliminary space plans and two- and three-dimensional design concept studies and sketches that integrate the client\'s needs and are based on knowledge of the principles of interior design and theories of human behavior
Assist with the implementation of interior design solutions for each project from concept stage through installation
Confirm that preliminary space plans and design concepts are safe, functional, aesthetically appropriate, and meet all public health, safety and welfare requirements
Adhere to regional building and fire codes, municipal codes, and any other jurisdictional statutes, regulations and guidelines applicable to the interior space
Select colors, materials and finishes to appropriately convey the design concept, functional, life-cycle performance, environmental, and safety requirement
Prepare specifications and schedules with accurate product information for all millwork, casework, appliances, plumbing, hardware, bath accessories, and interior finishes
Coordination and collaboration with other design professionals who may be retained to provide consulting services, including but not limited to architects; structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, and various specialty consultants
Construction Administration Phase Responsibilities
Participate in performing field visits/measurements and construction administration services including site visits, responding to RFIs, reviewing control samples and shop drawings, coordinating with consultants, manufacturers, and contractors, and completing and following up on punch list
General Responsibilities
Create, implement, and provide training and training resources for company-wide standards
Responsible for organization of project folder and ensuring filing system adheres to company standards
Participate in the management of the interior design resource library and maintain vendor contacts for interior furnishings, fixtures and finishes
Support project needs, including (but not limited to) meeting preparation, printing and binding presentations, wrapping, packing and shipping material samples, project filing, and creation of calendar invites and zoom links
Mentor Design Assistants and Interns, and assist with coordinating Design Assistant and Intern project workload needs under the direction of Project Lead
SKILLS, CORE COMPETENCIES, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS SKILLS
Degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design
Minimum of 4 to 6 years interior design experience
Comprehensive knowledge of Interior Architecture (IA) scopes in residential and hospitality design standards through all phases (Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration)
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Suite, Sketchup (or similar 3D modeling software). Enscape (or alternative rendering software) and SpecSources proficiency a plus
Knowledge in creation of construction drawings, specifications and schedules
Knowledge of specification writing
Knowledge of trade resources, fabricators, and vendors
Experience selecting and specifying lighting, furnishings, hardware, floor/window coverings, materials, and finishes
Ability to interact effectively with the design team on multiple projects
Must have excellent customer service and public speaking skills; be comfortable in interfacing with clients, consultants, vendors and internal staff
Must be collaborative, self-motivated, positive, and flexible with strong verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position will be working in a typical office setting, with no extremes in temperature or lighting
Able to occasionally travel and present at offsite locations in the Bay Area

Ability to lift 25lbs and transport items in and out of vehicles. Ability to work on feet/run errands for 4+ hours per day as needed. Ability to sit at a desk for 6+ hours per day
