Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is currently seeking a Director, In Silico Discovery, Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) to join our In Silico Drug Discovery team in San Diego, CA.

We are seeking a creative, strategic and self-motivated leader to elevate our portfolio-facing CADD team. In the Director role, you will drive programs toward NMEs by strengthening partnerships across portfolio and global discovery chemistry teams and expanding the impact of cutting-edge computational design in small-molecule discovery. You will guide the La Jolla CADD team in applying both commercial and internally developed software solutions across the Johnson & Johnson portfolio. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative and strategic leader passionate about advancing small-molecule design through computational innovation. This position offers the opportunity to join a diverse, global community of in silico scientists dedicated to delivering transformative medicines to patients. Responsibilities

Lead a high-performing portfolio-facing CADD team to drive computational design across the small-molecule portfolio with a vision of predict first. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to stay at the forefront of innovation in computational design for modalities including traditional small molecules, degraders, RIPTACS, GLUEs, peptides, and siRNA. Apply computational chemistry design and optimization strategies across our diverse portfolio; collaborate with In Silico Discovery and Global Discovery Chemistry teams to use predictive AI/ML tools for small molecule design and optimization. Mentor junior scientists and develop careers of CADD leaders; engage in industry consortia and represent In Silico Discovery in key initiatives. Evaluate and recommend acquisition or development of new technologies, including due diligence on partnering or M&A opportunities. Foster an inspiring, scientifically rigorous culture focused on continuous learning and collaboration; contribute to external publications and conferences as needed. Manage Managers, Supervisors, and/or individual contributors in a matrix environment; conduct performance management and career development conversations. Integrate Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision making. Professional Experience and Qualifications

Required: A PhD and a minimum of 10 years of experience in drug discovery with industry or related leadership experience. Demonstrated expertise in applied computation and small molecule drug discovery. Deep understanding of pharmaceutical discovery and optimization processes. Experience advancing initial hits toward NMEs; proven ability to build and lead teams. Preferred: Experience generating data visualizations (e.g., Spotfire, Vortex, Tableau, DataWarrior). Experience with multiple small molecule modalities (traditional SM, BRo5, degraders, RIPTAC, GLUE, peptides) and AI/ML approaches in drug discovery. Hands-on data curation, integration, mining, and analysis across large-scale datasets. Strong publication and/or patent record; ability to collaborate with external partners and multiple therapeutic areas. This position will be based on-site in San Diego, CA (La Jolla area) and may require up to approximately 20% travel both domestic and globally. No fully remote option available. The anticipated base pay range for this position is $164,000 to $282,900. The Company offers competitive, performance-based compensation, and may include eligibility for annual bonuses.
