Overview
Director, Metrics Strategy and Reporting. Capital One is a technology-driven organization with a strong focus on cybersecurity, reliability, software quality, and data management. Technology & Data Risk Management (TDRM) is a professional group that oversees tech risk and data risk across Capital One to support strategic decisions and independent risk testing. The CTRO and TDRM ensure broad responsibilities for cybersecurity as well as reliability, software quality, resilience, and data risk. The role collaborates with first- and second-line teams to provide metrics that inform technology decisions and risk management at all levels, including executive audiences. The Director, Metrics Strategy and Reporting will create a metrics strategy to drive change, update the metrics suite for cybersecurity, technology risk, and developer quality, and implement metrics to effect systemic change. Responsibilities include improving reporting processes, coordinating quarterly risk-memo materials for the Risk Committee of the Board, and supporting content development for executive audiences. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with strong knowledge of quantitative methods applied to technology/cyber risk, who can think strategically, thrives in a data-driven environment, and is intellectually curious. Responsibilities
Execute and lead with a focus on metrics, dashboards, and governance to drive change for audiences from program managers to the Board and risk appetite metrics. Develop suites of metrics across technology, technology risk, and cybersecurity domains, aligned to industry frameworks. Engage stakeholders across first, second, and third lines of defense to align on metrics and thresholds. Dive deeply into different domains to understand metric shortcomings and ensure proper documentation and communication. Monitor metrics, investigate anomalies, and escalate necessary response actions. Make recommendations on better leveraging metrics and data in reporting. Oversee development of reports, including the quarterly Board memo, and presentations to senior/executive management and external audiences. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or military experience At least 10 years of experience in cybersecurity or technology risk At least 5 years of experience with cybersecurity or technology risk metrics At least 5 years of experience with governance fora At least 3 years of experience leading people Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or engineering At least 12 years of experience in cybersecurity or technology risks related to resilience, reliability, or code quality At least 3 years of experience in cloud computing Understanding of cybersecurity, site reliability engineering, dev/ops, and developer excellence Experience revamping an organizational metrics program Experience with governance fora where senior leaders use metrics to manage their organizations At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon hours worked. Locations and ranges include: McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis New York, NY: $251,400 - $286,900 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis Richmond, VA: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range of that location, and the actual salary offered will be reflected in the offer letter. This role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives, as determined by the plan.
