AVP, Industry Practice Large Property Underwriter at Sompo. This role supports the Industry Practice business within Sompo North America and is based in one of our offices in San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Irvine, CA; Seattle, WA; or Chicago, IL. What youll be doing
Effectively drive acceptable submission activity and quickly determine acceptability of risk in accordance with Sompo guidelines and standards. Review applications and financial requirements to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with Sompo guidelines and standards. Understand pricing components and rating methodology; price risk based on financial and competitive analysis. Utilize underwriting tools, disciplines and knowledge of strategies to ensure underwriting guidelines are followed. Demonstrate strong technical underwriting skills through strategic, thorough account reviews and file documentation. Prepare or analyze information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations to drive results within the assigned territory. Adhere to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks. Keep current on state/territory issues, regulations, and trends; demonstrate ability to use sophisticated pricing models across various structures (guaranteed cost, captives, SIRs, deductibles, etc.). Minimum 8+ years of underwriting/insurance experience Bachelors Degree preferred Shared and layered experience, preferably in a primary position Experience with large brokerage houses, agents and specialty retailers Experience underwriting real estate, hospitality, financial institutions and professional services Established underwriting, quoting, and binding track record of profitable business Proven ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with insureds, agents & brokers on regional and national levels Strong negotiation skills Team player and collaborative by nature Strong attention to detail Salary and benefits
Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $175,000.00. Actual compensation depends on location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience. Our compensation program supports a pay-for-performance culture with base salary plus incentives based on company and individual performance. Benefits summary
