Within this culture of partnership, the Taxable Trading Department plays a critical role. This Trading desk is dedicated to delivering a diverse, fairly priced supply of taxable bonds to support the unique needs of our 8 million clients across the U.S. and Canada. As a Trader 1, you’ll bring your passion for capital markets to a team committed to opportunity identification, disciplined risk management, and best‑execution excellence. This role offers the chance to develop as a market professional while contributing directly to the financial well‑being of the clients and communities we proudly serve. What you will do
As a Trader I, expectations are that you have a passion for capital markets, excellent risk management skills, and can manage client orders with minimal oversight. Attention to detail is a must as your decisions directly impact clients and expose the firm to significant regulatory, financial and reputational risk. What will you do? Execute odd-lot retail client liquidations, bid wanteds, and external offerings, effectively managing corresponding inventory positions with limited to moderate retail-structured trading flows and capital commitments Independently perform all daily trading-related responsibilities, including pricing evaluation and position management Proficient demonstration of capital markets analytics, trading strategies, and risk management techniques Ensure best execution and compliance with all firm and industry regulatory requirements Effective application of internal and external trading systems and related tools Deliver client service excellence by researching and resolving branch inquiries, including more complicated requests as needed Support operational excellence initiatives Develop internal and external networks, including dealer relationships Position Requirements / Experience
B.A./B.S. degree in business, economics, finance, or quantitative related field required Series 7 and 66 required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire 18+ months of financial service experience required, capital markets preferred Proficient knowledge of capital markets analytics, trading strategies, and risk management techniques Proficient knowledge trading systems and related tools, including, but not limited to, Bloomberg, DSTS, and 3rd party electronic trading platforms What Could Set You Apart
Capital markets experience Client Service and/or financial industry experience CFP, MBA, CFA, CPA or working towards designation(s) Proficiency in non-trading applications or coding language (i.e., Microsoft Suite, Power BI, Tableau, VBA, SQL) Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week effective June 1, 2026. Before June 1, 2026, candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday. Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status.
