
Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks a Senior Membership Engagement Specialist to join the RISD Museum. Senior Membership Engagement Specialist — Role
With an in-depth understanding of the RISD Museum and Membership, the Senior Membership Engagement Specialist coordinates, implements, and analyzes broad-based membership programs to support museum activities and the membership base. The role identifies and recommends opportunities for new membership program levels and implements approved initiatives. It also recommends and implements policies and procedures to support programs, organizes exclusive events, maintains accurate records, and communicates with members at all levels, including new corporate membership tiers. The position collaborates with museum colleagues to ensure efficient data and content coordination for print and electronic publications. Essential Functions
Membership Program Coordination: Coordinate membership appeal and renewal programs from the museum’s database of record to help meet annual goals from individuals, business and member institutions. Manage member@risd.edu email account. Develop diversified strategies in support of a comprehensive membership and engagement program, and implement strategies as approved. Ensure a cohesive and thoughtful approach toward implementing promotions, enhancing the visitor experience, and increasing visitor conversion. Develop and prepare copy, content, and materials, including member emails and promotional materials, in collaboration with Museum Marketing and Creative Production teams. Manage data requests and maintain the integrity of donor and member financial records. Ensure current and long-range delivery of quality service to museum members. Events & Communications Develop, plan, and manage an annual calendar of membership renewals and events, including membership orientations and educational events, collection tours, and member day trips (some evenings/weekends), in collaboration with the Museum Events Planner. Support additional museum development events, including cultivation, fundraising, and interdepartmental events, through concept development, invitation management, logistical support, and staffing. Stewardship and Reporting Prepare a wide variety of standard and ad-hoc reports to measure results of membership campaigns and overall retention and growth. Monitor progress toward revenue goals and provide reports for senior management. Provide high-level details and content to the Deputy Director, Audience Experience & Learning, to support stewardship materials that convey the impact of annual programs. Contribute content for museum news and events, website, brochures, and mailings for all campaigns. Represent the Membership program in internal meetings with RISD Museum Staff and other departments to develop stewardship and relationship-building strategies when appropriate. Additional Functions Assist with other related projects and initiatives as requested. Support and staff on-campus events, including, but not limited to, RISD’s Commencement + Reunion Weekend. Support opportunities for student workers to engage with museum practices as appropriate. Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with donors and members, corporate and institutional partners, and general audiences. Ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of divisional and institutional colleagues, within an environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Minimum of three years’ experience in membership or customer relations; experience with fundraising databases or CRM systems preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate persuasively through a variety of mediums. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and under deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other technologies (such as Zoom, Google Suite). Ability to work evenings and weekends. Union:
