Job Description: General Statement of Duties:
The Admissions Counselor serves as a key member of the Admissions Team and is responsible for the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of students to the university\'s undergraduate programs. This position is accountable for meeting enrollment goals and working with the Admissions leadership team to develop and implement recruitment, selection, and yield strategies for an assigned territory. Duties & Responsibilities: Cultivates and maintains relationships with counselors from high schools and community-based organizations within an assigned territory. Participates in all aspects of the general admissions process, including: Meeting enrollment goals in assigned territory. Traveling to high schools, college fairs, and regional recruiting events as a representative of the university Interviewing prospective students. Conducting information sessions for prospective students and families. Reviewing application files and making admissions decisions both independently and as part of an Admissions Committee. Assisting in the planning, organization, and implementation of on and off campus recruiting events, including Open Houses. Provides outstanding customer service to prospective students and their families. Contributes to the strategic and annual planning for Admissions, and the university as needed. Coordinates and leads targeted recruitment activities and other special projects as needed to meet territory and overall enrollment goals. Maintains and utilizes appropriate computer software programs related to admission recruitment duties. Performs other duties as assigned that align with this position. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (to be considered for Admissions Counselor): At least one year of relevant experience (which can include student leadership experience). Proven ability to meet performance goals. Demonstrated enthusiasm for interacting with high-school aged students and their families. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to relationship building. Ability to travel extensively within the region and work evenings and weekends as required. A valid driver\'s license is required. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Strong technical skills, with the ability to learn new databases, communication software and research methodology. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University. Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board and Sexual Offenders Registry Information (CORI/SORI) as well as a completed background check satisfactory to the university. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor\'s Degree Sales or marketing experience Admissions or higher education experience Bilingual proficiency. Familiarity with Fitchburg State University programs and specifically the Criminal Justice/Police Program. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (to be considered for Assistant Director) Assistant Director of Admissions At least 2 years of admissions/enrollment or related professional experience. Proven ability to meet performance goals. Demonstrated enthusiasm for engaging with high school-aged students and their families. Familiarity with the barriers to access and success in higher education. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to relationship building. Ability to travel extensively within the region and work evenings and weekends as required. A valid driver\'s license is required. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Strong technical skills, with the ability to learn new databases, communication software and research methodology. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Additional Information: The University will be hiring several positions at either the Admissions Counselor - Staff Assistant or Assistant Director level. These are full-time, benefited, exempt professional positions. The annual salary range for an Admissions Counselor - Staff Assistant is $50,000-$53,000, and the salary range for an Assistant Director is $58,000-$62,000. Salaries are commensurate with education and experience. Fitchburg State University offers a competitive benefits package that includes: Pension or 401(a) defined contribution plan, and supplemental plan retirement options.
