What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Serve as a subject matter expert and representative for the employer’s Center for Public Policy in Washington, D.C.
Assist in developing legislative strategies and managing relationships with members of Congress and their staff
Research and track federal issues, budgets, and legislation affecting the employer and the cancer community
Develop messaging and resource materials for priority policy issues
Provide project management support for the employer’s public policy efforts within Congress
What is Required (Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Government Affairs, or Communications
Minimum of 3 years of progressive professional policy experience at the federal level
Extensive knowledge of the federal legislative and budget processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with policymakers and stakeholders
Advanced-level proficiency with MS Office products
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience working for or with patient advocacy organizations
Working knowledge of the breast cancer public policy and advocacy environment
Ability to synthesize complex policy concepts for non-experts
Excellent program management abilities including strong planning and execution skills
