Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role located in Newport Beach, CA, for a Writer at AR Academics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of language and an ability to engage diverse audiences through various forms of written content—primarily application assistance and essay writing (think creative nonfiction memoirs that also happen to be “Let me into your school” arguments). This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work that adheres to established narrative guidelines and styles. The Writer will also collaborate with the consulting team to develop tailored materials that align with the goals of individual students.
Qualifications
Strong skills in writing and creative writing
Attention to detail with demonstrated experience in Proofreading and Editing
Experience or interest in Education, College Admissions, or related areas
Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt tone and voice for diverse audiences
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Writing, or a related field
Ability to work collaboratively in-person with a dynamic team in Newport Beach, CA
Proven experience in creative or admissions writing/counseling, with a portfolio showcasing diverse writing samples.
Expertise in essay structure, particularly with the Hero’s Journey framework and the use of descriptive language to create engaging narratives.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
A passion for storytelling and a keen interest in engaging readers through innovative content creation.
Pay:
$29-$40 hourly. Based on the following factors:
Quality/Speed of Writing
Experience
Availability.

If the sample passes review, we’ll move onto a one-hour writing test, wherein you will answer a hypothetical prompt under a time constraint. Should you pass the hypothetical, you will be moved into the final interview, where terms are set, pay is negotiated, and an offer is made.
