Project Landscape Designer 2

in our Boston, MA office. As a

Project Landscape Designer 2 , you will support and collaborate on design and technical efforts as a landscape designer for various project types to assist senior landscape designers and landscape architects. You will work closely with internal team colleagues and other IMEG land development professionals to provide design solutions and prepare technical deliverables. The role requires working with the project budget to meet project goals and client expectations. You will also lead and mentor the team’s landscape architecture graduate designers and more junior landscape designers.

Principal Responsibilities

Completes various exhibits, presentation graphics and renderings.

Completes concept and schematic landscape design.

Completes site visits and tree assessments.

Completes landscape and planting plans, and tree preservation plans.

Review and approve tree preservation plans if the employee is a certified arborist.

Reviews research calculations and data entry for associated plans and reports.

Assists with cost estimating and take offs.

Assists with landscape code research.

Assists with the preparation of construction documents, details and spec writing.

Attends client meetings with senior staff.

Works as part of a project team to meet the scheduled deadlines for completing the various project tasks and client deliverables.

Responsible for managing own time/budgeting.

Provide direction/mentoring to the team’s landscape architecture graduate designers and more junior level landscape designers, and serves as a resource to them.

Depending on skill level, experience and leadership traits, may act as a project manager on some smaller projects, including preliminary project budgeting and determining project staff needs.

Required Skills & Abilities

Skilled in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp.

Good graphic skills, and good written and verbal communication skills.

Regional plant knowledge for application in both planting design and field identification.

Developing proficiency of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical design plans.

Attention to detail and developing design problem-solving skills.

Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff.

Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.

Education & Experience

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent required.

ISA Certified Arborist and/or ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified.

5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in land development.

OR

Associates degree, or certificate, preferred.

ISA Certified Arborist and/or ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified.

9 years of experience minimum required, 10 preferred, in land development.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.

Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.

Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Salary & Benefits Salary Range: $86,000-$108,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
