Job Summary
The HUD Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring organizational compliance with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations and program requirements. This role supports HUD-assisted housing programs by monitoring eligibility, maintaining accurate documentation, managing subsidy and voucher processes, responding to inspections and audits, and providing guidance to property management staff to ensure full regulatory compliance. Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, handbooks, notices, and program requirements. Review and verify applicant and resident eligibility, including income calculations, asset verification, and rent determinations. Train site staff on annual and interim recertifications. Run and submit HUD vouchers accurately and timely. Complete Existing Tenant Searches (ETS) and resolve findings. Prepare and submit Special Claims for vacancy loss and tenant-caused damages. Maintain accurate compliance records. Complete annual OCAF adjustments. Complete annual Rental Assistance Contract adjustments. Proactively maximize revenue. Perform internal file audits and compliance reviews. Respond to Management and Occupancy Reviews (MORs). Coordinate and respond to NSPIRE inspections. Prepare for and support HUD audits and monitoring reviews. Track compliance deadlines and corrective actions. Interpret HUD policies and provide guidance and training. Ensure data accuracy in TRACS, EIV, and housing software. Ensure compliance with Rules of Behavior and Cyber Awareness. Stay current on HUD regulatory changes. Requirements
HUD compliance experience. Knowledge of HUD regulations, vouchers, and eligibility. Experience with TRACS and EIV. Strong attention to detail and communication skills. Self-motivated, independent team member. Believes in our Pivotal mission and will live out our Core Values daily. Preferred
3+ years HUD experience Preferred Certifications (COS, HCCP, SHCM). MOR, NSPIRE, and Special Claims experience. Location preferred: Ohio or Texas (Dallas – Fort Worth Area). Benefits
