Job Title: Bakery Cake Designer Department: Bakery FLSA: Non-Exempt Role and Responsibilities

Decorating bakery items and providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions. Assist customers with bakery orders by telephone and in person at the store; answer the telephone promptly and take product orders. Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, addressing them by name when possible, and working with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction. Check orders for the day, set up a production timeline, and develop bakery orders for bakers daily (orders for cakes, sizes, etc.). Decorate bakery items in a timely manner and stay current on new designs and trends; check cake orders for details (size, deco pack, icing needs, dates) and indicate supply needs. Order supplies for the decorating area and manage delivery and setup of products, including wedding cakes on site (outside the store). Communicate with bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads and special needs daily. Check product dates, pull cases for work, and list items to fill or replace; track daily retail production and identify tasks with co-workers. Operate as a lead worker with part-time or other employees (instructs and reviews work) and participate in employee cross-training. Understand and practice proper sanitation procedures; ensure the work area is clean and neat; adhere to company policies and store guidelines; report to work as scheduled and on time. Wrap all product as necessary and assist in other areas of the store as needed; perform other job related duties and special projects as required. Maintain knowledge of customer service standards and maintain a safe, respectful work environment. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics

Must have the ability to solve practical problems; work with a variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. Ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data; interview to obtain basic information; guide people and provide basic direction. Education and Experience

High school or equivalent experience and six months or less of similar or related work experience. Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to exert up to 100 pounds of force (shared team lifting) occasionally; up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet with or without correction, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision. Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Working Conditions

The duties for this position are normally conducted in a store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. There is exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals/solvents, residual fumes and temperature extremes. Equipment Used

Standard tools and equipment used in a bakery environment including mixers, ovens, turntables, tips, areas such as bas, airbrush, telephone, copy machine, intercom system. Contacts
