Job Description Position : Multicultural Communications Specialist with a primary focus on Spanish language services to support translation, quality, and volunteer linguist roster across the organization. The role translates, proofs, and reviews Spanish-language materials and partners with Volunteer Services to execute the Multicultural Communications volunteer strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Translate Spanish-language materials on an ongoing basis, including everyday operational, programmatic, and communications content.
Perform machine translation post-editing (MTPE) of Spanish content to ensure professional linguistic quality.
Proofread and review Spanish translations for linguistic accuracy, consistency, tone, and adherence to the style guide and terminology.
Perform linguistic quality assurance (LQA) reviews and provide clear, constructive feedback aligned with translation standards.
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and application of Spanish style guides, glossaries, and linguistic standards.
Support basic desktop publishing (DTP) tasks including layout and formatting verification in collaboration with graphic designers.
Collaborate with the Multicultural Communications Manager to ensure quality, consistency, and efficient workflows.
Volunteer management process:
Support evaluation and screening of volunteer linguists based on language proficiency and translation skills.
Assist with onboarding and training of volunteer linguists, including participation in training sessions and ongoing development activities.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for volunteer linguists, including revisions, feedback, and quality discussions.
Qualifications Required:
Bilingual in Spanish and English . The work location is virtual; candidates may be located anywhere in the United States with a preference for East Coast hours. Education and experience details are listed below.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required (preferred in translation, linguistics, or language studies).
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Linguists must demonstrate: Translation competence; linguistic and textual competence in both source and target languages; research and information acquisition competence; cultural competence; technical competence; domain competence.
Preferred:
American Translators Association (ATA) certification - English into Spanish.
Experience in volunteer services, recruitment, engagement, or management.
Strong understanding of multicultural communication strategies and diverse audience engagement.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment.
Familiarity with community engagement initiatives and multicultural outreach.
Compensation & Benefits Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $60,000–$70,000. Note that salaries are set based on geographic location and location-specific ranges; the posting shows an average. Details will be shared during phone screening based on location and qualifications.
