Overview
Lighting Designer - ( 250000WV ) Description. Stantec Buildings is on a mission to become the world’s leading integrated design practice. Our team designs and documents lighting solutions for a range of project types, focusing on sustainability and collaborative problem solving. This position is hybrid with at least 3 days per week in person at the San Francisco office. Responsibilities
Develop lighting design solutions and collaborate with the design team. Produce lighting layouts and design documentation in Revit. Develop and analyze photometric calculations utilizing AGI32 or LightStanza for verification of design intent. Ensure energy code compliant designs and provide code compliance calculations. Define lighting control intent, documentation and specifications. Develop presentation materials, renderings, graphic packages and written reports. Develop luminaire schedules and provide design-appropriate product specification cut sheets. Develop and review mock-ups and test sample luminaires to support design strategies. Attend and engage in project design meetings as applicable. Apply technical skills and design documentation processes to produce accurate and timely deliverables. Collaborate across the practice to support an integrated design approach and design excellence. Develop lighting designs for a variety of project types including commercial workplace, civic, educational, healthcare, multi-family residential, hospitality, cultural, aviation and transportation. Maintain and expand technical skills; engage with vendors for hands-on learning of products and technologies. Pursue additional knowledge through in-house and external training. Qualifications
Motivated self-starter with a collaborative approach to project work. Competent knowledge of and proficiency in Revit. Ability to create lighting drawings (plans, elevations, sections and details) and apply interior architectural design principles. Strong understanding of user experience in the built environment. Ability to research and present design options. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Familiarity with project-related documents, sketches, graphic packages, and reports to appropriate standards. Knowledge of applicable codes and standards; sustainable and human-centric design principles (LEED and WELL). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for transdisciplinary collaboration. Strong organizational skills with effective time management. Competent knowledge of photometric tools such as AGI32 or LightStanza, photometric toolbox, and IES files. Valid driver’s license and clean MVR. Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related design field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Minimum 2–5 years in related work, predominantly architectural lighting design. Preferred Auxiliary Qualifications: IALD or IES membership/engagement; LEED or WELL accreditation.
