Overview HQF Hardscape & Flooring Carpenter – Salt Lake City, UT, United States

The Church seeks to build teams that reflect our diverse membership. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. The purpose of this position is to support Headquarters Facilities by providing and maintaining the physical accommodations for Church Departments and Priesthood Leaders. The role is a journeyman position focused on preventative and corrective maintenance and construction, to uphold a standard of time, quality, and cost. Performs all phases of journeyman level carpentry work with specialization in hardscape and flooring carpentry.

Pay range: $26.00 - $29.00/hr depending on experience and education.

Responsibilities

Work with materials used in construction including door hardware, soft and hard woods, gypsum board, wood and metal framing, laminates and solid surface, concrete, ceilings, flooring, stone, and modular furniture.

Use work order tracking software and time entry/personal development software in daily work.

Estimate materials needed for a specific job or project.

Use, maintain, and repair hand tools, portable machines, and general construction equipment.

Complete required safety training and certifications applicable to the assigned area of work.

Coordinate with contractors as needed.

Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.

Hardscape and Flooring: Install, maintain, and repair all flooring types (carpet, concrete, tile, VCT, epoxy coatings, stone, etc.). Responsible for repairing water leaks.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Requires journeyman level Carpenter with a minimum of four years’ experience in carpentry, concrete, flooring, cabinetry/furniture installation, modular furniture installation, or related fields.

Pass all required safety and equipment certifications and trainings.

Able to work professionally with others as well as independently without constant supervision.

Maintains a positive attitude and ability to work as a team.

Basic computer skills.

Valid driver’s license; DOT certification may be required.

Able to understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety.

Capable of understanding instructions verbally and in writing; able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed.

Good vision for precision work and good eye-hand coordination; steady, controlled hand movement.

Able to safely work from ladders, scaffolds, mechanical lifts, and high locations for extended periods.

Color vision ability.

Can independently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds; team lift up to 100 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, push, and pull for extended periods.

Requires at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision.

Preferred

Multi-trade background preferred.
