We’re seeking Assistant Aquatic Managers to help support our summer aquatic programs at City of Kingman pool facilities. This role supports the day-to-day operations at the City’s aquatic facilities during the swim season. This role works closely with the Aquatics Manager to help oversee staffing and facility operations while ensuring safe and engaging aquatic experiences for the community.
About You You're a strong communicator who is comfortable leading others and working with the public. You have experience working with aquatic programs and leading a team. You value safety, teamwork, and customer service.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
At least 18 years of age
One (1) to three (3) years of experience working with aquatic programs and the public
Current certifications in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens
Certification as a Swim Instructor or ability to obtain preferred
Valid lifeguard certification through Ellis, Red Cross, or Starguard
Previous experience supervising or leading others
Valid Arizona Driver’s License or ability to obtain one
Responsibilities
Supervision & Daily Operations (40%) : Assist the Aquatics Manager with hiring, training, scheduling, and assigning aquatics staff. Provide direction and supervision of staff and programs, and perform management responsibilities when the Aquatics Manager is absent. Assists in the development and implementation of training and orientation sessions of other Aquatics staff.
Administrative Support (25%) : Maintain accurate records and reports related to pool operations, staffing hours, lesson registrations, reservations, and incident documentation. Provide general administrative support including phone coverage and data entry. Assist the Aquatics Manager in the planning and implementation of aquatics leisure and training program.
Safety & Lifeguard Readiness (20%) : Respond appropriately to emergency situations, assist with water rescues and first aid/CPR when needed. Help plan and conduct red shirt drills to test lifeguard readiness and the facility’s Emergency Action Plan. Lead professional rescue procedures as required while reinforcing preventative safety measures.
Facility Maintenance (15%) : Help ensure proper facility maintenance and sanitation, supervise the use and care of equipment and supplies, recommend needed resources, perform routine pool and deck upkeep, and conduct water chemistry testing.
